Extending a GSOC 2012 project

Hi,

I want to extend some GSOC project but I was not able to see the directions for work. Can someone please give me some pointers here so that I can get started?

Generally, to start working with SymPy, you need to take a look at
SymPy Development Workflow [0]. However, I suppose you have already
gone through that page, so the only thing I could recommend is talking
to the author of the code that you would like to extend.

Maybe, we could give you a more to the point response if you tell us
which project exactly would you like to extend.

Hie,

I saw the GSOC 2013 ideas page, listed in wiki and linear algebra
module seems interesting to me. I suppose this is the area which can
be improved. Can someone tell me if it's a good idea? What is the
current progress in this module and what needs to get done.

There are many projects that you could work on. I recommend looking through our issues list for the "Matrices" label. Here is a link

Symbolic linear algebra is a big topic. Are you interested in implementing algorithms to solve matrix computations (like fixing our eigenvector decomposition routine)? Perhaps you're interested in applying matrices in other fields like physics? There are many options. Take a look through the issues list and let us know what you find interesting.

Hi Saurabh,

If you are looking on extending a past GSoC project (after looking at the development workflow) you should take a look at the reports written by the past students [1].

Also, if you are looking at anything on the wiki for GSoC 2013, you should also be aware basically nothing has been done to update it from 2012, it's just been copied over as a template. Here it may be useful to cross-reference what was on the 2012 ideas page with what has been in the reports.

I added some new ideas to the GSoC 2013 page. I didn't remove ones
that were already implemented, though, so you should check first.
