I'd like to share something I discovered by chance, but maybe it can help someone else or maybe it can contribute to fix a bug (I'm not sure if it is a bug or it is my computer).

Even if I'm now using Ubuntu 15.10 and Subsurface 4.5.6, it has been happening for a while ago.

After I had set everything to make Subsuface work with my Cressi Leonardo but it didn't download the dives.

I tried then changing the model and I used the Cressi Edy.

Even if with the Cressi Edy the dives were not downloaded, it "woke up the computer". After that communication between Subsurface and my dive computer, I set the model back to Cressi Leonardo and it did download the dives.

I do this every time I have to download new dives.

I have the same download problems with the leonardo.

Jorg:

The workaround is first try Cressi Eddy, wait for the computer to do the initial dialog with the computer and then use the correct Cressi Leonardo.

It seems several people are having trouble with the Leonardo. So let's have a look.

First of all which operating system are you using? Luis already mentioned he is
using Ubuntu. What about the others? Also linux, or something different?

Next, can you try the following three steps, each time with the "Save
libdivecomputer logfile" checkbox enabled:

1. Try downloading as Leonardo. This will fail, but that's fine. I'm interested
in seeing where it fails in the log.

2. Try downloading as Edy to "wake-up" the dive computer. This will also fails,
but if it somehow manages to wake-up the dive computer, I want to see what
response we get from the dive computer.

3. Try downloading as Leonardo again. If the previous step went well, then this
step should work.

Finally, send me all three logfiles.

Hello:

Before including the logs, I'd like to rephrase the workaround I found. Reading it again, I think my poor English did not make things any clear.

1. Set the Dive Computer as Cressi Leonardo

2. Try to download the dives. In my case, it failed.

3. Now set the Dive computer to Cressy Eddy, and try to download the dives. It failed again, but it woke up the Dive Computer.

4. Set the Dive computer back as Cressi Leonardo, and retry to Download. This time, it worked.

Thanks for the advice. What hardware interface did you use? The original Cressi? Any experience with other (no name) IR-dongles?
(I am using Windows by the way :)
