The Monthly - March 2021 - Spoken Word edition

Community Arts Partnership continues to highlight poetry and spoken word in its many forms in The Monthly.

In this special edition, Josh Schultz explains how Community Arts Partnership’s Poetry in Motion project came about and how it fared in its early years. We include alongside Josh’s article, photographs and videos of the elements which make up the PIM project, Poetry in Motion Schools, Poetry in Motion Community and the Seamus Heaney Awards for New Writing and Achievement.

We look at Wordcore with the magnificent Gil Scott Heron, George the Poet and Emily XYZ and the relatively new genre, Sprechgesalt (Spoken Singing) with Ireland’s Sinead O'Brien and England’s Dry Cleaning.

We have a video of New Zealand’s Slam at Your Place, an online event which facilitates performances by international slam poets, poets and spoken word performers.

So this special edition of The Monthly is full of all manner of poetic orientations for everyone to enjoy.
The Monthly is open for your contributions.
