I am now working more closely with ScreenSkills to help identify and support creative individuals, at first via Talent Campus, but we have plans for new initiatives. They are running a free event called Diversity in Action Conference and you can get your ticket now. Here's what they just emailed me... We are excited to share with you that ScreenSkills are planning a half-day conference on Monday 11 March 2019 at Kings Place, which is a fully accessible venue just a few minutes’ walk from King’s Cross and St Pancras stations. The event will run from 13:00pm – 17:30pm and the first section of the event will be ScreenSkills heads of departments – HETV and Film along with our CEO – giving an overview of what diversity initiatives we offer and then we’d break off into small groups for bite-sized training sessions or workshops for the rest of the afternoon. The programme is still in development but we aim to showcase a taster session or practical workshop for the following initiatives: 1. Unconscious Bias session (based on BIFA Voter Unconscious Bias training pilot) 2. Inclusive Leadership session including how to manage diverse teams and bullying and harassment (based on HETV Leadership Essentials training pilot) 3. How to Recruit Disabled Talent session with an opportunity to ask questions to a qualified employment solicitor (based on Disability Awareness training pilot for TV recruitment) 4. Practical tips on how to recruit returners and job-sharers (in collaboration with Film London, Media Parents, Raising Films and Share My Telly Job) 5. Practical tips on how to monitor diversity and meet diversity standards (each delegate will receive a film producers guide to meeting the BFI Diversity Standards and ScreenSkills diversity & inclusivity monitoring guide for training providers) 3. | How to Recruit Disabled Talent session with an opportunity to ask questions to a qualified employment solicitor (based on Disability Awareness training pilot for TV recruitment) | 4. | Practical tips on how to recruit returners and job-sharers (in collaboration with Film London, Media Parents, Raising Films and Share My Telly Job) | The conference is completely free to attend (with teas and coffees provided in plenty). The target audience is anyone who has responsibility for recruiting and managing teams, including freelancers who have recruitment responsibilities and our training providers. Please only apply if you are able to participate for the entire duration of the event.
