** the Tony Strickland Quartet are named after one of Ireland's foremost arts curator and commentator , the man with the Hat - Mr Tony Strickland **

After a sold out Alternative 80s night earlier in the year, Radar Station returns to the Pavilion on Belfast’s Ormeau Road to celebrate the vinyl gatefold sounds of prog and jazz rock from the 1980s.

The night will feature the extraordinary live sounds of TS4, as well as DJs playing all the alternative sounds of the 1980s from Captain Beefheart to the Beastie Boys.

TS4 – The Tony Strickland Quartet - are a band that are hard to categorise. Their music is high energy and very danceable and has elements of jazz and punk. If King Crimson were to rescue the Beach Boys from the Addams family they would listen to this.

But, who are the Tony Strickland Quartet?

The band features guitarist Colin Reid (who has performed with Bert Jansch and Eddi Reader), drummer Jason O’Rourke (with 6 solo albums and worldwide tours behind him), saxophone player Seonaid Murray (key part of many musical events such as “Singing for the Brain” and Electric Octopus) and bass player Keith Watterson (from Scream Blue Murmur).

Alongside the live music, there will be several hours of alternative 80s sounds, from post punk to hip hop, via King Crimson and Frank Zappa from two of Belfast’s most eclectic music selectors: Ken Bartley (Radar Station / ArtisAnn) and Ryan Fitzsimmons (Sunglasses After Dark).

If you loved the John Peel “Festive Fifty” this is the night for you.
