The Seamus Heaney Centre Poetry Summer School is an annual intensive week of creative development for emerging poets, with seminars, workshops and one-to-one tutorials, alongside a programme of readings and other evening events.

This year the Poetry Summer School will be led by Nick Laird.
Nick Laird (b. Co. Tyrone, 1975) is a poet, novelist, screenwriter and former lawyer. His poetry collections are To A Fault, On Purpose, Go Giants and Feel Free. His novels are Utterly Monkey, Glover’s Mistake and Modern Gods. His awards include the Betty Trask prize, the Geoffrey Faber Memorial Prize, a Somerset Maugham award, the Aldeburgh Poetry Prize, the Rooney Prize for Irish Literature and a Guggenheim Fellowship. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature, and Writer-in-Residence at New York University.

TRAVEL AND ACCOMMODATION must be covered by individuals. Bursaries are available to support those who would otherwise not be able to attend, and are offered on a case-by-case basis.
Bursaries are supported as part of the Seamus Heaney Legacy project. The Legacy project is a ten-year fund between Queen's University and the Arts Council of NI, supported by the Atlantic Philanthropies.
