We're just three days away from the start of the IFI's final festival of 2018: the IFI & Kinopolis Polish Film Festival, which runs from this Thursday to Sunday.

The festival will open at 18.30 on Thursday evening with A Cat With a Dog, starring Olgierd Łukaszewicz and Robert Więckiewicz as estranged brothers reunited by illness. This moving comedy drama, based on director Janusz Kondratiuk's own experiences, will be followed by a live Q&A with Olgierd Łukaszewicz.

Other highlights include Małgorzata Szumowska's latest film Mug, which won the Jury Prize at this year's Berlin Film Festival; Ether, the latest from Krzysztof Zanussi; Paweł Maślona's comedy Panic Attack; and a rare screening of The War of the Worlds: Next Century, directed by the late Piotr Szulkin who sadly passed away earlier this year.

Tickets are available for all shows from HERE, and don't forget you can also avail of our great value multi-film pass, four films for €38, which is available in person or over the phone from the IFI Box Office (01 679 3477).

Mug, which won the Grand Jury Prize at this year's Berlin Film Festival, centres on Jacek (Mateusz Kościukiewicz), a popular, heavy metal-loving builder who undergoes Poland’s first face transplant following a freak accident. In the weeks and months that follow, the attitudes of his neighbours, his girlfriend, and even his family change, making an outsider of him. This screening will be followed by a Q&A with director Małgorzata Szumowska.
