Hi Everyone,

Welcome to this week’s edition of our newsletter, with Miriam, our Senior Awards and Event Producer’s weekly update on WFTV events and our round-up of news and events across the industry.

Following both the Golden Globes and the recent BAFTA nominations, it’s been really disappointing to see the lack of female nominees for best film and director, particularly, in a year where they have been so many strong female directed films, including Little Women  and The Farewell, to name just two of a long list.

I think this clearly raises questions about how nominations are selected and who selects them, and what we could or should do to change this. Having been in touch with BAFTA over this issue, this is something that we will be discussing with them in more detail in the next few weeks.

Before Christmas, I mentioned we would be soon be advertising for a Press and Communications Manager and I am delighted to say that applications for this open today and will remain open until 31 January, please feel free to share the advert.

And many thanks to Franklin Rae for very kindly sponsoring our London monthly networking again this year, and I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at our networking tomorrow evening.

Many thanks and have a great week.

Best

Liz
