Today is the first anniversary of the IMMA Collection: Freud Project and to celebrate we are delighted to announce that the exhibition will be FREE for all visitors to coincide with the October mid-term and Halloween Bank holiday. We are also extending our inaugural Lucian Freud exhibition until 7 January 2018.

Featuring 50 works on five-year loan to the IMMA Collection from a number of Private Collections the Freud Project includes a selection of 30 of the artist’s finest paintings, alongside 20 works on paper, and several key photographs of the artist by David Dawson, all presented in the dedicated Freud Centre in IMMA’s Garden Galleries.

Don't miss out on this opportunity to see an incredible collection of Lucian Freud's finest works free of charge before 5 November.

RESERVING TICKETS AND VISITING THE FREUD CENTRE
The Freud Centre on the grounds of IMMA is open during the museum's regular hours.
Check our website for opening hours, directions, and further information.

Admission to IMMA Collection: Freud Project is by ticketed timed entry. This is due to the delicate nature of the works and the limited circulation space of the historic building that houses the Freud Centre.

To avoid disappointment please pre-book tickets for your preferred time slot in advance of visiting.

If you have printed your ticket or saved it to your mobile device you can make your way directly to the Freud Centre. If you are purchasing your ticket on-site at IMMA please allow at least 10 minutes to purchase your ticket in person from the Main Reception and walk to the Freud Centre. Advance booking is highly recommended as walk-in entry is not guaranteed.

IMMA COLLECTION: FREUD PROJECT IN THE PRESS

Thanks to the Freud Project, the Irish Museum of Modern Art is the place to go to if you want to see a first-rate, representative collection of the work of Lucian Freud over the next five years. - The Irish Times

When Freud died in 2011, art historian Catherine Lampert noted that his work had at its heart “a wilful, restless personality, fired by his intelligence and attentiveness and his suspicion of method … ” Parts of this private, restless personality can now be gleaned through the 50 works of art on display at IMMA in Kilmainham.

The Freud Project, running until 2021, offers the opportunity to focus in on the realist painter’s work. And, as curator Johanne Mullan explains, focus in on a man who rarely let his subjects off the hook." - The Dublin InQuirer

Freud Project is a must see for anyone with an interest in art history or just looking for a causal way to spend the day. - University Observer

LUCIAN FREUD: PAINTER AND CHANCER
Listen back to this weeks BBC Radio 4 programme Low Life on the life and work of Lucian Freud as the first in their series 'The Gamble'.

The programme includes interviews with Christina Kennedy, IMMA Head of Collections and Freud Project Curator and Patricia Brennan from our Visitor Engagement Team, and a reading by John Lalor of his artist response commissioned for the IMMA Freud Project book.
