We are delighted to announce that our bursary scholarship programmes are now open for 2021. We look forward to welcoming and supporting our eighth intake of talented, determined and enthusiastic bursary scholars in the fields of television production, technology and journalism, who all come from low-income households. This session will look at what kind of PSB system we want over the next decade, looking at the main recommendations from Ofcom and the Select Committee, including the proposal to recast PSB as “public service media” that is delivered online as well as on TV.

This week, Call the Midwife swings into the mid-sixties for its triumphant return to screens on Sunday. The creators and cast of the iconic show celebrated 10 years on screen at our RTS event last month, looking back at some of their favourite moments and storylines over the past nine series and what's in store for series 10. This week, BBC Director of Nations Rhodri Talfan Davies will join Sky News presenter Gillian Joseph for an in conversation event on Thursday 3 June to discuss the BBC’s plan for its biggest transformation in decades and his vision for BBC Nations.

The winners will be crowned at a virtual awards ceremony on Friday 25 June at 2pm, streamed live via the RTS website and hosted by broadcast presenter and award-winning radio host, Vick Hope. An expert RTS Thames Valley panel will explore the processes of getting a script to screen on Wednesday 16 June.

In this two part session, Vikkie Taggart, Stellify Media, and Sheila Robinson, Leadership Communications Coach, will break down how to stand out in an interview, make a good impression and enhance your skills for RTS Northern Ireland.

RTS Northern Ireland host a panel of industry experts from Channel 4, UTV, BBC and NI Screen to discuss the situation as they see it this spring/ summer, and also a throw forward to commissioning opportunities this winter and beyond in scripted and non-scripted.

Last week, we celebrated the brilliant young talent at the RTS Student Television Awards 2021, sponsored by Kinetic Content, in an online ceremony hosted by the fantastic Vick Hope. Watch the ceremony in full and see the list of winners here.

Last week, an expert panel explored how virtual production is dramatically changing the landscape and ecosystem of TV and film production. Ian Milham, who worked on the visual effects for The Mandalorian, Kate Gray, Steve Jelley and Neil Graham discussed the impact virtual production has on filming from the increased use of LED Volumes that provide a new, real-time surround stage.
