ONLINE SPRING LECTURE SERIES 2021

We are thrilled to have Dr. Christine O'Neill deliver her lecture Colourful Creations in Joyce and Bosch on Monday the 12th April, 2021 at 6.30pm (Irish Time). This will be the final talk in our spring lecture series. The works of James Joyce and Hieronymus Bosch are famous for their inventiveness and colourful creations and both draw on biblical stories and late medieval imagery. This talk will explore some shared visionary elements, track some intriguing animal-like creatures, contemplate the Four Last Things, and descend into the vibrant hells of Joyce and Bosch.

With an Irish Soccer World Cup bid underway, the improbable mind of Senan Molony turns to imagining more gambols with Ulysses than the horse and cycle racing of June 16, 1904. The great novel is something of a game of footfall, after all? Joyce allows the men of Dublin City FC to tog out in the mind’s eye, clad in sky blue shirts, white shorts and Hellenic-hued hosiery. United States V One Book Called Ulysses

In March, The James Joyce Centre produced a highly successful new play United States V One Book Called Ulysses by Colin Murphy with thanks to Declan Dunne and directed and performed by AboutFace Theatre. Over 400 people attended this live theatre event and the feedback was wonderful.
