Women's careers are being held back by an 'entitlement gap' in the workplace, reveals new research by The Female Lead

The Female Lead’s research shows the problems that still block women's careers. One big issue is an 'Unentitled Mindset'. This is the way that women are conditioned to feel less entitled than men, in all areas of their lives. To expect less, not to take up too much space, not to demand more. This creates an entitlement gap between women and men, leading to inequality in pay, domestic load, childcare, parental care & unpaid work which mainly falls on women’s shoulders. Read the full report:

Join the Institute in partnership with UNICEF as we unveil our research report on gender representation in advertisements on TV and YouTube, through analysis of the 1,000 most viewed ads in 2019 in India. The findings of this research are a benchmark with which we can all measure progress towards more empowering gender portrayals and gender-sensitive advertising in India and worldwide.

While the study shows that women and girls have achieved parity-of-representation according to some metrics, there is, nonetheless, enormous room for even more empowering gender portrayals. The Indian chapter of the International Advertising Association (IAA) has been a strategic partner in providing sample for the study and will also be with us in the journey to take this study into action.
