Coming up at the Lyric this festive season...

Penguins

18 - 22 Dec 2019

Alongside our Lyric festive productions - Peter Pan & Driving Home for Christmas - we are delighted to welcome Cahoots NI to the Lyric with the perfect Christmas show for younger families 3+

When being different brings the most wonderful of surprises...

Roy and Silo are two male Chinstrap penguins. Just like the other penguin pairs at Central Park Zoo, they walk, play, swim and dance together. When the duo decide to try and hatch a rock in place of an egg, they find themselves on an adventure that could mean raising a chick for real!

Penguins is a unique and engaging show for children about friendship, fun, identity and the ever-changing meaning of family.

This delightful theatre and dance production is inspired by a true story reported in the New York Times that touched hearts worldwide.

This is a non-verbal production and would be suitable for deaf and hard of hearing audiences.

Produced by Cahoots NI, Birmingham Repertory Theatre and Prime Theatre

The Fetch Wilson

8 - 9 November

This thrilling new play brings you to places you shouldn't go (but want to) while asking one question...how well do you really know yourself?

Inspired by the world of Edgar Allan Poe, The Fetch Wilson is an exciting collaboration between The Corps Ensemble and award-winning writer Stewart Roche (Revenant, The Snake Eaters, Tracer).

Produced by The Corps Ensemble

Carrying David

10 November

Inspired by the love of his terminally ill brother David, on June 3, 1989, Glenn McCrory (of Tyrone ancestry) made boxing history, becoming the Cruiserweight Champion of the World.

Funny and heartbreaking, Carrying David is a remarkable one-man play reflecting the highs and many lows of Glenn's unrelenting drive and incredible sacrifice to become the very first world champion from the North East of England.

Two brothers: one fighting for his fame, the other fighting for his life!

Having premiered at the Tyneside Irish Cultural Centre before storming the North East of England in June, Carrying David will transfer to the 1200-seat Newcastle Theatre Royal next April. Don't miss this Irish transfer of what will become a modern classic.

Produced by David Hull Promotions & Ed Waugh

FRA FEE: SEISIÚN

22 November

Fra Fee is an award winning Irish actor and singer currently appearing as Owen in the National Theatre’s acclaimed production of Translations by Brian Friel. A regular on the West End and London stages, he is known for his role as Courfeyrac in the movie adaptation of Les Misérables, playing Michael Carney in Jez Butterworth's The Ferryman in London and on Broadway, for which he won the 2018 Whatsonstage Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Play, and on screen opposite Holliday Grainger and Alia Shawkat in the feature film Animals.

Following sold-out performances at London’s The Other Palace, and on Broadway’s Feinstein’s/54 Below, Fra Fee brings Seisiún back home to the Lyric Theatre. Seisiún is an evening of story-telling through songs and tunes ranging from Sondheim, Pasek & Paul, Flaherty & Ahrens, to Fra’s roots in traditional Irish music with multi-instrumental guests and singers lending their talents to the evening.
