Now, with that out of the way (but seriously we do hope you found some enjoyment in life over the last while) it's time to talk about Jan into Feb here at Smock Alley.

And yes, of course, we've included a tasty discount code here for you. The code 'yeswejan' applies to four different shows this month! It is only valid until midnight on Sunday 13th! Read on to find out more.

We're over halfway through the First Fortnight Festival. As part of the fest, two critically acclaimed shows are on this week -
I n f i n i t y in the Main Space (discount available!) and the sweetly titled Nothing But a Toerag in the Boys' School.

We also have two work-in-progress showings this weekend as part of the festival. Blue Devils presented by Stella Godmet looks at how, in his work, Tennessee Williams questions society’s treatment of women who don’t fit into the mould. Inspired by his writings, this piece will take the audience into the imagined private world of some of his strong female characters. In Two Minds is an ambitious and affecting new work-in-development that looks at the realities of living with bipolar disorder.

After last year’s sell out inaugural show ‘Personal Space’, an anthology of the dark, weird and deeply funny, co-writer/performers Stephen Colfer, Hannah Mamalis and Peter McGann return with three completely new short comedy scripts.
Personal Space II – This time it’s personal and in space. (discount available!)

DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama will present a Baroque Opera Double Bill for 2 nights.

No Drama Theatre return with The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, a tale of love, hope, and revenge set against the vicious backdrop of a lawless society. (discount available!)

Splódar Theatre bring us The First Protestant, a play about the life and struggles of Luther, the monk who defied the Catholic church with profound repercussions for Christendom.

Sugar Coat Theatre present So Where Do We Begin?, a shape-shifting thriller. (discount available!)

Blue Diamond Drama Academy is a new initiative which is providing a 2 year drama training for talented adult performers with a learning disability. They're bringing us One Love, a joyous exploration of friendship and what it’s like to be in love and have a learning disability.

Then we have Fond Pageant presented by acclaimed actor Dan Reardon based on his book of poems published in 2018. It examines the healing and redemptive powers of art. The concept for the show was sparked by an unprovoked and inexplicable epileptic seizure suffered by Reardon while attending the opening night of “Ulysses” at the Abbey Theatre in October 2017.

We'll be launching the programme for Scene + Heard 2019 next week! The Festival of New Work  will showcase over 100 new pieces of work across all genres over 3 weeks in Feb/Mar. It's in its FOURTH year now. That was fast.

There's so much more. Check out our Whats On here.

Finally, as a smushy sign-off, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you so much for your support and we wish you all the very best for 2019!
