💫 See what we have on this week!
@ The Black Box

OMG it's our thirteenth birthday this year you guys, we are finally a teenager and we are so psyched 😸✌️❤️🎂

To celebrate this life-defining mo mo we are launching a '13 for 13' campaign where we have an ambitious plan to raise £13k for this, our 13th year. We have a heap of things planned including gigs, events, prizes, loadsa stuff!

We are raising money to fix up our stroppy teenage and your contribution will make an impact, whether you donate a little or a lot. Anything helps. Thank you for your support.

Any profits we make are put back into the charity - enabling us to continue projects such as Black Moon, Mini Moon, Moon Base and help us keep our programme weird, wonderful and accessible.

So come along, join in the fundraising madness and celebrate our 13th Birthday x

 THE HILLBILLY MOON EXPLOSION
OCTOBER 5, 2019 @ 8:00 PM
£15 BB MEMBERS £12

Make a date with The Hillbilly Moon Explosion who will be scattering electric, eclectic musical sound beams around the Black Box!

This band’s Rock ‘n’ Roll is exhilarating and musically diverse with echoes of southern Rockabilly, Mexican Mariachi, and 50s Sci Fi. A half-English 4-piece group, The Hillbilly Moon Explosion can mostly be found in the unlikely habitat of Zurich, Switzerland, where they have honed their craft over many years. Searching for the right sound they’ve previously recorded in San Diego, Camden and Tooting, but for their latest album they went back to their local Swiss studio, the place where they made their first rockabilly recordings and where they had plenty of time to get the sounds they wanted. As a result their latest album, With Monsters and Gods, is certainly their best release to date.

Operating at full creative tilt, the group are currently promoting the CD on a tour of ten European countries. After a six year gap (they have previously appeared at the Jazz Café, the Punk Rebellion Festival and the Boomtown Festival, and were guests of the Swiss national team at the London Olympics) they are back in the UK. After dropping in at London’s Borderline and the Cathedral Quarter festival in Belfast, they will finally reach Enniskillen, a place they already know as friendly and welcoming and which is, we are told, close their hearts!
The band have become quite an online and vinyl phenomenon with more than 13 million YouTube views of the video for Tattoos of My Love for Evermore. Much revered in France, they were hired to help resurrect the career of the film star and singer Arielle Dombasle who recorded a collection of Hillbilly Moon cover versions with them for release on the Universal label.

THE LONDON ASTROBEAT ORCHESTRA PERFORMS THE BEATLES
OCTOBER 27, 2019 @ 7:30 PM
£14. BB MEMBERS £11.50

As October marks the 50th anniversary of The Beatles’ last ever recorded studio album Abbey Road charting at number 1, we’ve prepared a special night to celebrate. The iconic album topped the charts for months since its release giving to the world huge anthems such as ‘Come Together’, ‘Octopus’s Garden’ and ‘Here Comes The Sun’ which have kept resonating loudly in the masses’ minds and hearts for the past five decades.
The Beatles took great inspiration from the American Rock ‘n’ Roll icons like Elvis Presley and Chuck Berry who’s sound was influenced by the Blues created in the southern states of the US. The classic Abbey Road reinvented one last time the sound of the legendary band and it went on to become a giant influence over the Pop-Culture of the 20th century. As Blues’ origins travel back to West Africa and predominantly to the Bambara ethnic group from Mali who made up the majority of the enslaved population arriving in Louisiana and Mississippi, for this very special show The London Astrobeat Orchestra will be paying tribute to the album in their own unique Wild West African way with the intention to finally take these sounds back home to their roots. Expect to hear your Abbey Road favourites and more timeless Fab Four hits. This will be a historic and unprecedented night of AfroBeatleMania in which we’ll be dancing to treasured classics entangled with intricate Malian Kora sounds on a backbeat of Afro-Mandingue grooves.
