Forest Stacks, part of the Playstacks initiative

Forest Stacks is an exciting new community building initiative based in Garvagh Forest. We're working with an excellent team of artists, architects, apprentices, and local people to create temporary public spaces for everyone to use in the forest. A part of the Playstacks initiatve, Forest Stacks also contributes to the Garvagh Peoples Forest Project which is currently transforming the forest and the relationship local people have with it.

Forest Stacks is a practical, hands on project and it is about creating something truly unique in Garvagh Forest.

The project will be active over the Summer, Autumn, Winter and Spring leading towards a huge celebration in Garvagh People's Forest in the Spring of 2019.

Opening Doors Summer Music Workshops

This will be the most fun you have had as a musician! Over four days you will work with your friends to improvise, write, sing, play, record, video and produce a series of new songs and one large group piece that you will perform as part of the final Opening Doors music performance, accompanied by the Whitehead Orchestra, in the Autumn of 2018.

Take A Part Carlow are making lots of art on the Tullow Road!

Take A Part Carlow is led by an Arts Action Group made up of community representatives from the Tullow Road area of Carlow Town along with agency partners.

Since 2016 the Arts Action Group have come together to create, pursue and deliver creative activities for the greater community in that area. So far, a family fun day featuring giant easels to paint on and a workshop in circus skills, a series of Manifesto Making workshops with Poet/Activist Sarah Clancy, a 5 week long community arts project with local children, Mask Making workshops with artist Caitriona McGowan and an 8 month project with Artist Michael Fortune which started in May have all been delivered, and all under the banner Take A Part Carlow!

The pilot project now running since May 2017 is in full swing and aims to simply “Make Art on the Tullow Road.” And they have certainly done that!

Follow their facebook page to stay updated on the project!

SEO: Getting your website notices

‘Search engine optimisation’ (or SEO) simply means setting up your website in such a way as to ensure that it appears as near as possible to the top of the list on search engines such as Google, Yahoo! and Bing.

If your voluntary arts or crafts group has a website, this Briefing will give you some tips on how you can optimise your site for search engines and promote it on the internet – all at no, or very low, cost.
