Hi,

I've just had a rather interesting conversation with my dad[0], in which
it turned out he had a clearer idea of the date for Kickstart than I
did, but still wasn't really sure.

I've checked, and I can't find any reference to it on either the mailing
list, the website, or trac. The only vague mention being asking for
feedback in the teachers status e-mail.

Do we have an expected date for Kickstart?
What are the expected venues?

Scarzy

[0] For those that don't know, my dad is a teacher at one of the schools
that's competed for the past couple of years

Yes, this is currently crystallising.

Hi Tom,

Bristol confirmed the dates they could do at the end of last week --
we've landed on the 7th of November as being the date of Kickstart.
This, of course, should start making it's way onto the website.

Long story short, there was some awkwardness about getting a site in
London at the start of September, and most schools need six weeks notice
for arranging a trip. That left us with the 24th and 31st of Oct as
Kickstart dates, which land on the half term for the majority of
schools. After some feedback from teams, we pushed back to the 7th of Nov.

This has the side-effect that it'll be slightly easier to get the kit in
order, which is nice.

Thanks,

Hi,

Excellent! Albeit a bit late, I'm glad we've got an actual date for it!

What are the locations?

Thanks
Scarzy

Southampton / Bristol / London, London being the Facebook site right
now. I'm also chasing a couple of schools who offered the use of their
halls: we might be able to fit many more people into a London kickstart
in that case.

There's the potential for an Oxford kickstart to exist (five teams in
the same place), however this would require a sudden step in
arrangements being made, so might not be feasible. I've asked AndyB to
look at whether that's actually possible. It'd be nice, but possibly
impractical.
