Hi everyone,

as outlined in the minutes of the last SC meeting,
one goal for this spring is to have an active weeked for blueshirts.

Proposed dates: 31.1., 1. 2., 7.2, 8.2.
Jeremy mentioned that Brisol blueshirts are struggling with the cost of travel to Southampton.

In the last SC meeting it was noted that there is currently no budget for supporting travel, so my idea was to either have a donation collected before the event or to evenly share the travel cost between all attending volunteers.

To have an estimate who would attend, please enter yourselves in the doodle [0] (assuming an ideal situation with no cost).

Everyone struggling with cost, could you please
*let me know an approximate number*
for the cost? (You can do so in private).

The event is only going to be one day, since that way we can test it and reduce the cost for everyone travelling in.
It would mainly consist of a morning session, lunch, an activity in the common and an afternoon session.

If you have activity ideas or would like to hold an activity yourselves,
let me know.

cheers

Hi,

Proposed dates: 31.1., 1. 2., 7.2, 8.2.

Argh. I checked the tech day dates but still overlooked that 7.2. is already a tech day in bristol^^

7.2. is not available anymore. Bristol blueshirts: Is 8.2. an option for you guys, or would you prefer only one SR activity per weekend?

sorry and thanks to the person who pointed it out to me

Hi,

everyone who needs support with the travel cost:
Can you please let me know by this week Sunday!
I can not make any promises but will try to collect donations
so as few people as possible will be prevented from coming to the competition by travel cost.

Anyone willing to support travel cost is of course welcome to contact me as well :D
If we end up with more funding than needed, it will be used to buy food on the day.

We worked out some activity proposals today:
- A small robot competition to familiarise people with the new kit
- An SR quiz [0] so blueshirts learn about the new kit, classic student problems and the rules of this years game
- Designing a 'How does Mentoring work' entertaining leaflet (also usable for the website), so we improve the amount of mentors we get involved;
- building flags (this is currently unclear since it requires lasercut parts); would be useful so we can already show flags to teams at tech days
- building additional arena components (same as flags)
- plan the arena build for this year; (this is a wild idea based on rob mentioning plans to change the arena build and I am just contacting him about that now)

cheers
lilafisch

[0] A number of questions that teams have to answer, this includes active work on kit, questions on the game rules, debugging of kit, answering classical student questions. We have used this team competition in sr2015 and sr2014 to prepare blueshirts for the first tech day.

I'm assuming you don't mean competition here?

Murray.

Hi all,

the final date for this is Saturday, January 31st.

We will have an all day mini robot competition,
the SR quiz after lunch and various smaller workshops in the morning and afternoon. I will announce a detailed schedule next week.

I hope starting at 10am is ok for everyone joining from further away, but of course you can also come at a later time.

The day will have an open end, playing artemis bridge simulator.
For the evening I also invited the Spaceflight society (SUSF), who already joined us for our pre-Christmas doing.

Nobody asked me for support with travel cost, but I did get offers for donations. So even on short notice we can probably sort something out.

Do you have an estimate of the end time?

Separately, other than "Southampton" I've not seen a location detail
here. Are you planning to use Seminar Room 1 or somewhere else?
If somewhere on Uni, what's the parking like on weekends (I honestly
can't remember).

Thanks,
Peter

Hi,

Do you have an estimate of the end time?

we'll go to the pub some time between 6 and 7pm.
After that its open end playing artemis (latest 11 when uni closes in most areas)

here. Are you planning to use Seminar Room 1 or somewhere else?

We are planning to use somewhere at Uni, still depends on bookings etc.

SR1 is confirmed, lilafish, I think I did mention it to you. Can't remember how long I booked it for, having said that.

Quite possible^^ Thanks for doing so.
I wasn't 100% sure so I didn't want to announce a room until I had double checked.

Can't remember how long I booked it for, having said that.

We'd need the room all day, from early morning (set-up) until 11pm (artemis)

Hi all,

Sorry for the very late response, but a small group of us (5!) quiet Bristol lot will be joining you at the Active Day tomorrow. We'll be arriving some time during the lunch break - hopefully that works for everyone involved. We might need a little bit of help finding our way to you guys once we make it to the uni... but we'll deal with that hurdle when we come to it!

Thanks for organising this!
George

Hi,
all guests are now on their way back,
I hope the event was enjoyable, let me know any feedback,
what can be done to make the day more worthwhile, ...
During the day, new insights to the kit were gained
and a concept and draft were designed for the volunteer handbook.
Thanks to everyone who made the trip to Southampton,
have a safe trip home!

cheers
lilafisch
