Sphinx Search yellow highlight creates extra white space

Hello,

Currently whenever I perform a search the yellow highlight creates extra white space. For example when I search "Change", It would find the word "Changes" but make it look like this " Click Save My Changes. "
I would like for it to highlight but don't create the white space between the "e" and the "s".
Is there a current solution to fix this?

Hi,

I believe it is caused by stylesheets.

What theme do you use? Alabaster (sphinx's default)? rtd_theme?

Anyway, sphinx uses .highlighted class to the highlighted words.

So please replace or update your stylesheet to erase paddings or margins.

Some articles would let you know how to add custom stylesheet on sphinx.
