Hello,

I'm a student at the Department of Computer and Information Science at
the University of Linköping, Sweden, and I am currently looking for an
interesting topic for my Bachelor's thesis. One of the ideas was to
test SPDY on an Android phone and analyse its performance over WiFi or
3G/4G. Alternatively, use something like DummyNet to simulate a
network without the need for a phone, but that'd prevent me from
testing the changes in battery usage when using SPDY.

As I only have about 10 weeks for the whole project I am wondering if
this is even feasible with the current state of the protocol and its
example implementations? Any ideas or suggestions?
I haven't been able to find any public projects on this topic, so I've
decided to check with the devs here.

Regards,
Alexander Filatov

Hello hello,

This sounds interesting. I think it's quite doable. Note that the
Android browser in the Honeycomb release uses Chromium's network stack
(http://android.git.kernel.org/?p=platform/external/chromium.git;a=summary),
which supports SPDY. So all the code is there in Android already.

Cheers

Alexander: did you succeed in analyzing performance of SPDY on Android?
Could you share your opinion / results, and ideally source code?
