Philip Henry Howard of Corby Castle (1801-1883) was only the second Catholic elected MP since the Roman Catholic Relief Act was passed by Parliament in 1829. He has a bio in HOP, here:
http://www.historyofparliamentonline.org/volume/1820-1832/member/howard-philip-1801-1883
His wife was Eliza Minto Canning, born 1 February 1810 in Ceringay, Calcutta, Bengal, the daughter of an officer with the Honourable East India Company, a younger son of the Cannings, a gentry family seated at Foxcote House, Ilmington, Warwickshire. They were steadfastly Catholic since the Tudor era, as their intermarriages with leading Catholic peerage families demonstrate. Eliza was appointed by her childless paternal uncle Francis Canning, his heir, but only if she had a son. She married Philip Henry Howard on 16 November 1843, at the relatively late age of 33. Her first three children were girls, and it took 10 years for the necessary son and heir to arrive, in 1853, when Eliza was age 43. Foxcote House could now legally be kept by the Howards of Corby Castle, through her. It became the preferred residence. She died at Corby Castle, Cumberland on 11 February, and was buried 16 February 1865 in Holy Trinity Church, Wetheral, Cumberland.
Leo has Eliza in his database, with no dates or ancestry for her parents, here:
