A shoe story came on the heels of the pants story (which has to be the most
confused metaphor in this issue). New research, in the British Journal of
Urology International, established the relation between shoe size and ...
sock size. In fact, the study dispelled the commonly held belief that shoe
size is an indicator of penis size. Two London urologists enlisted 104 men
for the study. The urologists write, "The linear distance from the symphysis
pubis to the tip of the glans along the dorsal aspect, under maximal
extension of the phallus, was recorded using a measuring tape," which
translates to "we somehow got 104 guys to agree to drop their pants next to
a tape rule."

They then compared the numbers with shoe size data and found no correlation.
One of the urologists, clearly frustrated by the nonfinding, was quoted by
Reuters Health news service as saying, "There must be some part of the body
that is predictive of penile length.... The search continues." In the
future, of course, penis size will be highly correlated with petri dish
size.
