Do you have any objections if I bring along a Mac user who is not yet
a smugger?

Regards Phil Townrow.

Jack (and all)

Apologies but I don't think I'm going to be able to make it. Family commitments I'm afraid.

Regards
Phil

PS. I'm sure you'll all have a good time without me.

PPS. And I was soo looking forward to showing-off my Xmas iPhone :)

Sam – what happened to your signature? It’s just two huge blobs of green, slightly out of line with each other. Is it HTML that’s not displaying righT?

Hi Chris

I changed my signature to all html to cut down on intrusion into peoples' inboxes, what email program are you using? Perhaps you need to allow it to download images in html emails.

FWIW, I'm using Thunderbird and I get the
same green bar. My e-mail program is set to
block images by default.

Hey Sam,

I use a variety. Thunderbird mostly, but at that point Entourage, which
can't be configured that way. Besides, downloading images for html by
default is disabled as a security measure, as remote images are used by
spammers to confirm (by the loading of the image from their server)
whether an email is a valid target. The alternative (embedded) are just
unnecessary extra space on inbox (bad news on IMAP especially), so I
generally consider any html email pretty bad practice myself.

That reminds me - must make a 1600px wide Torchwood signature to stick on
the bottom of all my outgoing messages to people I don't like! Haha.

Oh Dear, A real bummer - had to work this morning till just now, so I
won't be able to make this afternoon as I am in Walton on Thames in
Surrey. Have a great meeting.

Andy

Hello All,

I have attached a map of where the Dome Cinema is located.<Picture

The current guest list stands at 12 people and 2 possibles.

To view the guest list and venue information, including any updates go
to

http://www.Streets-Ahead.com/smug/

I would like to thank Graham for putting that page together for us.

I would also like to thank Howard for providing the Cinema as a venue
location.

I would also like to do some recording for my new podcast their if
that's okay with everyone.

I look forward to finally meeting you all.

A big thank you to Jack for organising the meeting this afternoon which I
thought went extremely well with 13 SMUGgers attending and some very
interesting people to exchange views with.

The venue was also excellent.

Almost worth the wait of (2.5 years?) since the last meeting

Thanks very much Paul but it wasn't me who organised it all, thanks to
Howard for providing a venue location and Graham for putting together
the webpage for us all to view.

Great meeting everyone, like to see you all again sometime.

Yes - thanks to our organisers and for choosing such an unusual and
relaxing venue. It's a shame I missed the projection room tour ...
maybe next time.

Maybe we could have quarterly meetings or something - when we tried
monthly ones before it didn't really happen. But then there's so many
new people now you never know.

Stephen

What are the geographical situations of members - are there sufficient
in my area - say 20 mile radius of Tunbridge Wells - to make it worth
having a meeting?

Confession: whilst subscribing, I haven't read this list in a **long** time.

The other day I thought, I'd like to meet up. In the list archive I found this:

Another 2.5 years has passed! Who'd like to meet?

Good idea, Graham!

It would be good to meet up and to be able to put faces to all the names which have become so familiar to us through the List. However, as the Group has grown so much and is now so widespread (even as far as California), it may not be practicable. Instead, I wonder if we could produce a List of Members, complete with a photo of each Member and a brief summary of where he/she lives, what he/she does for a living, etc. It would be fascinating reading.

Is there enough money in the kitty to meet in California?

I have always thought I would like to meet up with Smuggers, many of whom seem like friends although we have never met.   I live near Rye which is MILES from Brighton so a meeting in Brighton, which is where the last one was, is not feasible for me.

Greetings all! - I live near Rye too. It might be good to meet up somewhere
relatively equidistant?

OK, for starters I have given myself a 'SMUG' tag on Identi.ca

+1

Polegate falls somewhere in between (and has a windmill, if such
things interest you).

Would we want Wi-Fi?

Mmm interesting possibility - wi-fi windmill in Polegate!
