My wifi only 3rd generation iPad keeps dropping its wifi connection. It's never been great at keeping the signal (1-2 drop outs a day) but in the last couple of days I can't stay connected for more than a couple of minutes.

It's running the latest version of iOS and nothing material has changed. I've changed the network frequency to one which no one else around here uses all the other things on the network are happily connected.

Has anyone else had this kind of problem? If so is there anything one can do?

Regards
Philippe

My iPod touch 2nd gen and iPad 1st gen (WiFi+3G) have dropped their connection on a regular (and occasionally very frequent) basis ever since I've had them until just a few weeks ago when we replaced the Netgear DG834G wireless part of our home setup with an Airport Extreme.

Now the iPod touch, my iPad and my partner's MacBook Air are connected 24/7 and we love it ... but my brand new iMac can drop the WiFi twice in 20 minutes. Sigh! I've had to go back onto Ethernet but that's not an option with the iPad.

So, replacing your wireless router may help other than than I can't offer other help, sorry.

I had the same problem with a new iPad 3rd generation and contacted Apple support. They went through a complete reset procedure with me over the phone and eventually said that they would replace the iPad, which they did. I went to a local Apple store where they gave me a new one and showed me how to save all my apps and data. This is a known problem with this iPad and you will find some information on the Apple support pages. A time consuming solution but my iPad is working fine now.
