Hi all

I have an 800 incoming line that get s junk calls from all over. Is there a way to limit the incoming area codes it will process call from and reject all other area codes?

Hey Mitch - I haven't found a good way to reliably filter Inbound calls with current features.  What I have managed to do is put an Auto-attendant on my Inbound DID  that prompts the caller to push the corresponding number ("Push one for the Office manager", etc.) for whoever it is they want. It cut down on nearly 99% of robo junk calls.  The only ones that get through are the calls with humans on the other end.  Just ask them when they are having dinner and let them know you call them back then.
Hope this helps,
Jim

as I stated this is an inbound 800 number so I get charged for all incoming calls if answered  if I can reject calls based on areacode i can limit the calls to the areas I want to receive call from. I only want calls from about 5 areacodes comming in

You could do that with a session border controller...  check out Frafos.

Agree with Mike that an SBC is a good approach. An alternative is to port the 1800 number to an ISTP that has callerid filtering capability.

All the best
