The 25th World Computer Shogi Championship Applicant List

It is our pleasure to announce that the 25th World Computer
Shogi Championship will be held in Japan in May 2015.
There will be forty-six (46) participants at the tournament.

There are the first and second preliminary contests
and then a final round.
The top 16 entered programs are seeded for the second
preliminary contest. The other entered programs enter
the first preliminary contest.

The first preliminary contest will be held on the first
day. There will be 7 Swiss-style games. The top 8
programs will join the second preliminary contest.

The second preliminary contest will be held on the second
day. There will be 9 Swiss-style games. The top 8
programs will proceed to the final.

If the number in the first or the second preliminary contest is
odd, the operating committee will let a maginary program enter
the contest. The imaginary program will not qualify.
If it achieves a qualifying position, that position will go to a
regular program.
All the games of the imaginary program are loss by default.

The final will be held on the third day. There will be
7 rounds, round robin of 8 programs with each program
playing each other once.

Amazing. Just a few days ago I still looked on the CSA website to check
whether the tourney was already announced, and what the registration
deadline was. Because I was playing with the idea to go there. I could
not find any mention of it on the CSA English home page.

Turns out now the page was modified on February 8 to contain a link to
the WCSC announcement page, which already was created on Dec 20, but not
linked.

A bit strange to announce a dead-line of January 31 only on February 8...
