I just upgraded from 0.10.x to 0.12.2 and noticed that a feature has disappeared (or changed enough that I no longer see it).  When entering a value into a numericInput, if the value was out of range, a red border was added to the input.  But it no longer works.  Do I need to do something else to activate that?

I believe this behavior is defined by the web browser instead of shiny
(I could be wrong). That said, I can reproduce this issue and I do
remember previously there was a red border. Perhaps it was because we
changed something in shiny (I don't know) or web browsers no longer
show the red border.

Yihui

It looks like this behavior was removed in Bootstrap 3, which Shiny switched to in version 0.11.

The reasoning behind the change is discussed here:

There's an open issue in Shiny for this (and another closely-related change):
