Dear all,
We have a forthcoming book titled "The case for degrowth"
by Polity Press in this book series on
radical policies, with Giorgos Kallis, Susan Paulson and
Giacomo D'Alisa. To be launched at the Manchester degrowth
conference, 1-5 September 2020. It is a book on the
political strategies for degrowth.
For years now, the four of us have been studying and
writing about negative impacts and disastrous futures of
economic growth, while urging moves toward healthier
horizons. This is the first book we dedicate to paving the
way for alternative paths forward. There is no doubt that
organized transition to degrowth will be politically
difficult. We believe that it is possible, and that living
and working toward that transition is good in itself. In
this book, we contemplate how.
We are asked by the publisher to provide a list of people
who could:
1) be interested to write a review for a journal, and
2) consider adopting this book in their courses.
If you are interested, please send me at
federic...@gmail.com your exact contact details (name,
address, email address, phone number) by the 20th of
December. Please, provide also details about the journal,
and/or the course, including the syllabus. See an example
here below. Needless to say, we will be grateful if you
write a review for a newspaper, website or blog also, though
I don't think we can secure a free copy for that.
We expect to have a high demand for the copies, so we
will prioritize petitions that provide convincing evidence
that the review will be published or that the book will be
part of teaching material (for example you may want to
provide us with a draft syllabus and explain where and how
the book will be used). Books will be sent out in early
September 2020. We will expect reviewers to send us a copy
of the book review when published (ideally by the end of
2020, or early 2021), and teachers to share with us the
published syllabus of the course where the material from the
book is included.
