Dear SCORAI members,

I would like to bring to your attention the second edition of the celebrated book by Peter Victor “Managing without Growth”. When the first edition of this book appeared ten years ago it was the first serious academic attempt to introduce into macroeconomic modeling of the economy the considerations of human well-being, consumption, and climate protection. The book’s macroeconomic model became the centerpiece of Tim Jackson’s bestseller “Prosperity without Growth”. These two volumes opened my eyes to ideas and way of thinking that was very new to me. They surely belong on the “must read” list of SCORAI members. During the intervening decade the questioning of economic growth and unsustainable consumption have moved to the mainstream of academic and activist debate, further (though indirectly) supported by the remarkable work of Thomas Piketty. Peter Victor’s second edition refines and significantly extends the original work. www.managingwithoutgrowth.com;     https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XxsgQZkx8Yg
