Hi Dipesh,

It is recommended, although not mandatory, to have 3 separate servers for database, application itself and cron jobs. You can install everything on a single server.
Software stack required for running Scalr is listed under "Packages" section of the installation howto.

Nick

Hi Dipesh,

In this example you should have Scalr installed on both 2 and 3 servers.
That's why I've recommended starting with just 1 server, for simplicity.

I believe you're logged in as admin.
In order to create environment, create a user first and login with it.

Dhanesh,

This error means that Scalr cannot connect to Scalarizr running on the server you're trying to import.
Check connectivity as described in our wiki: http://wiki.scalr.com/display/docs/Import+a+non+Scalr+server

Hi Nick,

I have imported non scalr server successfully.

while creating roles we got stuck in initializing.

Details:

1) OS Booted    ( Step 1 )

2) Start and initialize scalrizr  ( step 2 )    -  stucked here.

I have checked the docs and found cron should run properly.

corrected all errors in cron by installing rrdtool seperately and correcting the old cron entries.

executed cron and its working fine.

Kindly Help me on this.

Dhanesh M

Nick,

+1 for this issue.

After upgrade to 4.0 - I was able to import one instance - now rest of the failed with Snapshot creation failed. Reason: Cannot send rebundle message to server. Please check event log for more details.. Bundle task status changed to: failed
access to client is ok on 8013 port, so no connectivity issue for sure.

Also, even first import not working. The same as described by Dhanesh M  - it was stuck on Initialization.

Hi Nick,

I am also having similar issue like Dhanesh. In my case I am using Cloudstack with scalr,

I have used the below link to install sclar
https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/scalr-discuss/EfXXde__i_k

I have added the Api Url, API key, Secret key. While importing a role using "Create Role from non sclar server" the first message[in / Hello] is delivered but the second message[out / Rebundle] is delivering latter after sometime it becomes failed.

FYI
I have checked the connectivity between scalr and Scalarizr able to telnet to port 8013, 8010 and snmpwalk from scalr to scalarizr on  8014.

Hi Nick,

My cloudstack (Ver. 3.2) setup  with scalr3 version while importing Snapshot created, OS booted and then stuck in initialization.

With the same Cloudstack setup while trying with Latest scalr version Snapshot creation itself failed.

Iam attaching the log details.

Below log is giving http 201 message, where as in scalr latest version it strucks.

red line is the place where scalr latest version strucks.

Please advice me on this

Hi scalr-discuss,

Mykhailo's issue turned out to be the result of misconfiguration - Scalarizr was already configured on the server he was trying to import to Scalr.

Those who still experience this issue - please try to do a clean Scalarizr install from the latest repository. Also, remove the whole /etc/scalr/ folder before running scalarizr with import keys (unless this server is already managed by Scalr, of course).

This issue can also be related to the CloudStack network settings, especially port forwarding.

Let me know if that doesn't help.

Regards,
Nick

Hello again,

We've been able to pin point the issue (thanks to Mykhaylo) - Scalarizr from "stable" repository doesn't work well with open source Scalr 4.0.
Before importing the server make sure you've installed the latest Scalarizr (you can check versions here: http://update.scalr.net/).

On Ubuntu, simply uncomment repository line in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/scalr-latest.list

Let me know if that works.

Regards,
Nick
