Will someone share their script to scale gluster or persistent storage folders?

Hi all,

I am looking for a way to attach a persistent layer to the app server with the scripts ability.  The problem is that I am not sure how to script the finding of the master server. Also, what to do if the master app server fails. How do you determine that in the script so it will make the next server the master. 

Will someone share a bash script or two on how you handle this?
