((Outside the Jade Dragon’s Casino, New Macau, Antor II))

:: The small away team was released from the blue and white confines of the transporter to the damaged chaos of Antor II's surface. The casino was still...sort of...standing. In pieces. The smoke nearly blinded him, and it took Chythar a few seconds to recover. Mentally, he steeled himself against the onslaught of emotions he'd undoubtedly feel. The levels of injury ranged from walking wounded to prone, immobilized victims. It didn't take rocket science to see what needed to be done, and he was in motion even before he heard his boss give the order, kneeling alongside someone with a broken leg as he set about
his task. ::

Ryan: Let’s move people!!

Moonsong: There may be people trapped in the debris…

:: A few feet away, Chythar saw Ris tending to a head wound case. It wasn't uncommon for people to have all sorts of injuries on a scale this massive, especially given the severity of the disaster. While he wasn't too familiar with the species of the regions, he didn't possess Raissa's telepathic or empathic levels so he didn't feel comfortable offering that sort of assistance. However, the other kind, the physical, he could do. Readily. It had been...what, a couple of months since he last did this sort of thing? There wasn't time to count, he just had to focus on the moment. ::

:: He hadn't served with Nikki very long but had more faith in her than his previous boss aboard the Za. Ryan, unlike Cattan, was more experienced and actually an MD as opposed to a nurse. He recognized a few of the other medical staff, which moved like a well oiled machine. The field of chaos and destruction was littered with blood and bodies, and some of them had apparently died before the medical teams arrived. As CD stabilized his current patient and moved onto the next, he had to remind himself of his father's words: oO You can't save them all. Give them the peace you deny yourself. Oo Once again, he was in hell. The only peace he would find was in the ones he could help, rather than the ones who were beyond his reach. ::

:: He was nearing his next prone victim when an ambulatory wounded woman approached him and began babbling incoherently. It took his translator a few moments to catch up to the rapid-fire speech patterns. Despite the translator finally latching on, he couldn't make any sense of what was being said. ::

Skyfire: It'll be okay.

:: The woman continued babbling incoherently as CD eased her to the ground and began treating her injuries, taking a moment to breathe -- both for the sake of his sanity and to keep the wave of nausea which threatened to destroy his concentration at bay. ::

Ryan: Agreed. Spread out and be careful. Standard triage procedures for now. Kelrod’s team should be here soon to help search the debris.

:: The Starfleet med team had spread out to cover the most ground. A voice came from near by, and Chythar thought perhaps that he recognized it. ::

Blake: Keep positive. We'll need every ounce of it we can get.

::Nikki moved in to check the young man Blake just helped to the ground. Serious shoulder wound that would probably need surgery but nothing life threatening. She gave him a shot of antibiotics to help fight off any infection until his wounds could be properly treated.::

Ryan: ::with a nod to Blake:: Commander...

Moonsong / Ellery: Response?

Blake: Hi. Who else is ground-side - just you guys?

Ryan: At the moment but Commander Kelrod’s team should be here any minute now.

Moonsong / Ellery: Response?

Blake: Oh good.

:: Chythar didn't know Commander Blake well enough, having only met her (well, quasi-met her) when they investigated the Mercury and encountered a hologram of her. Still, this Blake was here and apparently different from the hologram, so he attempted to ask a question. ::

Skyfire: How many blasts were there, Commander?

:: He noticed Nikki move to the next injured individual, and he too finished stabilizing his patient and moved on to the next, staying within earshot of the commander and the others so she could answer his question. It was almost as bad as his first code blue after the metal-munching dragons on the
starbase. ::

Keene: Response?

Moonsong /  Ellery: Response?

Blake: It's not pretty. I got caught in the outskirts of both blasts - there was no warning whatsoever. Nobody within immediate proximity had a chance.

Ryan: Any idea what we’re really looking at here?

Moonsong / Ellery / Keene: Response?

Blake: After the first bomb, Antor's militia went after insurgents and both sides got decimated in one swing - if there's any survivors, I didn't see any. Marshals are setting up emergency shelters where they can with temporary air purifiers or rebreathers for those who desperately need it, but until Antor's emergency services get these fires out, this is the swill we're stuck breathing in. Marshals and Antor's authorities can't get into what's left of the main buildings until fire suppressant systems are online again.

Moonsong / Ellery / Keene: Response?

Blake: Well, if you need a hand, I'm here to lend it.

Ryan: ::glancing over her shoulder at Blake:: Appreciate it. We can use all the hands we can get right now.

:: Chythar just nodded in silent agreement and took a shallow breath, wishing he'd remembered to pack a rebreather or two. For now, he knelt down and began working on yet another patient's assessment to see if they needed to be transported back to the Veritas. ::

Moonsong / Ellery / Keene: Response?

West: Hey!! I need help getting’ outta here!!

Moonsong / Ellery / Blake / Keene: Response?

::Nikki quickly moved to where the man was still trapped.::

Ryan: Are you injured?

West: I seem okay. I’m in a small pocket of air in here!

Moonsong / Ellery / Blake / Keene: Response?

:: With at least two officers working on the problem of getting whats-his-name out of his current predicament, Chythar stabilized yet another patient and moved off to the next. It was going to be one of those nights. The kind of nights where the paperwork alone would exceed the amount of sleep he'd receive. ::

:: As he began to assess the next injured victim, a memory he hoped was forgotten resurfaced. ::

(( Flashback --  USS Gorkon, Outside Captain's Ready Room, SD 239403.04  ))

::The trio approached the door and CD pressed the chime. Silence. Nefan frowned alongside him. The Andorian also looked unamused.::

Skyfire: Not usual at all...

:: He pressed it again. ::

:: More silence. ::

Skyfire: That's not good... Computer, CMO override. Authorization Skyfire omega delta four Charlie.

:: The door slid open, the lights were on nobody was home. At that, he paused and scratched his chin thoughtfully. ::

oO Where else would I look...? Oo

Venal: ::He paused.:: I heard from Lieutenant Alexander that the Romulan attache, Talana, and the Captain have...history. Perhaps we should attempt to locate the attache.

:: Chythar nodded silently. That’d probably be the next place to look. ::

sh'Idrani: I agree. Maybe then-

:: sh’Idrani stopped suddenly. The deck plating shifted slightly beneath his feet, and he heard something like a dull thrumming in the background. What it was, he didn’t know. ::

sh'Idrani: What was that? Did something blow up?

:: Suddenly, the red alert klaxons went off, blaring in his ears for only a moment before the sound dulled. Thanks to the EARS implants, he knew they were at red alert but didn't have to hear it at full blast. ::

Skyfire: Damn it all. Computer, location of Fleet Captain Quinn Reynolds.

Computer: Fleet Captain Reynolds is on deck 9 in the 413 Memorial.

:: Chythar snapped his fingers and grabbed a medkit from the nearby storage locker, glancing to his companions. Past experience taught him to be prepared for anything. ::

Skyfire: Long story, but ah hope ah willnae have to use it. :: He paused for only a moment. :: You two are with me. We’re goin’ to deck 9.

Venal: ::pulls his phaser from its holster:: Aye, sir.

:: The Andorian officer gave a nod and withdrew her phaser, following the pair of higher-ranking
officers. ::

(( Flashback -- USS Gorkon, Deck 9, 413 Memorial, SD 239403.04 ))

::As they neared the pillar, Chythar forced himself not to freeze. There wasn’t time for him to freeze. He saw the captain slumped unconscious on the floor beside it, clammy and pale, her dress whites and the grey carpet around her stained a dark crimson. Every instinct told him she had little time left, and he had only a few seconds to pull a miracle out of his little box to save her life. The last thing he wanted to do was explain to the ever-gruff and not very personable Commander Brunsig she died on his watch. CD wanted to do everything in his power to ensure that didn’t happen.::

Skyfire: Damn…

:: He immediately set to work trying to control the bleeding, the blood now coating his hands as he made an effort to control it with pressure and hypercoagulin from his medkit, to no avail. Still working, he looked toward the other two officers. ::

Skyfire: Secure the area. Document everything, since this is now a crime scene. Forensics, scans, pictures. Want to preserve whatever evidence is here.

:: Replacing the phaser, Venal pulled out his tricorder and nodded to the Andorian ensign. ::

Venal: We can start at the corners and work our way inward.

sh'Idrani: Good idea. Let's not forget to do the main doors and any often accessed engineering entrances too, might be something there.

Skyfire: When you’re finished, report to Commander Brunsig. Understood?

Venal: Aye, sir.

sh'Idrani: Yes, sir.

:: Once the two gave the affirmative, he ordered an operating room prepped and initiated an emergency transport for himself and Captain Reynolds to sickbay. ::

(( End Flashback ))

:
: The stabilization of this patient was similar because the shrapnel by fallen debris looked to be very similar to the stab patterns of the injured captain he'd saved only a few months before. At least, this time, the hypercoagulin was doing its job and was working as opposed to Captain Reynolds. As the last of the memories faded, he blinked a few times to clear his head. He had to focus on his task, and he also had to remember to breathe. He didn't want to breathe in this mess, but he didn't have a choice. At least his immune system had recovered somewhat after the damned Hocktin incident. ::

Injured victim: The shrapnel...it hurts...

Skyfire: Ah ken, lad. Ah'm going to have you beamed to my ship, because ah can nae do anything about it without proper tools. A'right?

Injured victim: Mkay...

:: CD got him stabilized to the point where he could be tagged for transport. Once that was done, he heard the roar of a shuttle's thrusters fly overhead. A low-orbit fly-over. A glance at the registry number of the passing shuttle confirmed it's origin: the Veritas. He tapped his badge to update his boss, and for the life of him couldn't remember if they had a SAR unit. Since he was new here, he suspected she'd have more knowledge about that. ::

Skyfire: =/\= Skyfire to Ryan. Incoming shuttles from the Veritas. Possibly a SAR team. =/\=

Ryan: =/\= Response =/\=

:: He glanced upward to get an idea of where it was heading in relation to himself and the rest of the team. A few meters away by this point, but it didn't take him long to reply before moving to his next patient. ::

Skyfire: =/\= Spotted one h
eadin' your way.

Ryan: =/\= Response =/\=
