//Captain's Log, Stardate 239407.07

Veritas has arrived at Antor II, and I will be meeting with the governor and several other Colonial Coalition leaders about issues in the Shoals and how our efforts can help their needs.

My staff, under our new operations officer Lieutenant Evan Delano's direction, has begun tackling our supply needs. Our first pick-up, however, is a new group of officers--including a familiar face--from the recently inactivated USS Za.//

((Captain’s Ready Room, USS Veritas))

::The Za. It had been Del's ship. Last she saw of him, in fact, was when she beamed him over herself to his new assignment.::

::With the USS Za's arrival, it was finally happening. It was real. There was no going back. It was time to say goodbye.::

::She walked up to his quarters and tapped the door chime, holding a present behind her back.::

Del: I know it's you. Come on in.

::She stood in the doorway once the doors slid open, keeping the gift out of view.::

Rahman: You ready?

::He looked up. He hadn't yet--he'd known it was her, after all--but there was something in her voice that told him he'd regret it if he didn't. When he spoke himself, he found there was something at the back of his throat he couldn't quite remove.::

Del: No. Definitely not.

Rahman: You know, if you were to have an accident... broke both your legs or something... you wouldn't be able to go. At least not immediately.

::She smiled as she revealed the extra-large hyperspanner she'd been carrying, which resembled more a club than a precise engineering tool.::

Rahman: And maybe they'd figure it wouldn't be worth it to wait.

::He had to grin at that, though he also eyed whatever she'd brought him with one wary eye. Knowing her, it was probably a gift--but, also knowing her, she might have grabbed whatever hyperpolar reversal whosit that looked like it would actually break his legs.::

Del: I, uh, don't know that they would, really.

Rahman: What are friends for, right?

::She took a step forward, and he took a step back.::

Del: Gonna go with my gut here and say not breaking each others' limbs. ::beat:: Probably.

((END FLASHBACK))

::Yet Del was not among the list of names on her PADD of the new arrivals. She was disappointed, but then, that was her own selfish desire to see her friend again. As Moonsong had told her before, she needed a confidant, and with Del not around, then Tristam at least, but now the Rodulan was gone as well.::

::That dreaded feeling of being alone again at the top was beginning to creep back, interrupted only by the door chime.::

Rahman: Come in.

::In walked the three officers she had been expecting. She looked them over as each made their introductions.::

Rosek: ::stands at attention with her hands tucked behind her back:: Lieutenant Lael Rosek, Engineer, reporting for duty, ma’am.

::The next man snapped to attention almost with the same gusto as Ensign Fullus.::

Blair: Commander Alex Blair, Starfleet Corps of Engineers liaison. Reporting as ordered Captain.

::Finally, joining the two engineers was Dr. Skyfire, the one whom she'd known from a previous assignment. He looked a bit different since she last saw him, older of course but also standing in a more relaxed and confident stance befitting a veteran officer.

Skyfire: Dr. Chythar Skyfire, medical. It’s been too long since we last served together, Captain. Nearly two years.

::She nodded at the doctor.::

Rahman: It has. You've seen your fair share of tours since we were last in the same room.

Skyfire: Three transfers total. Columbia to Gorkon, then Gorkon to Za, then here nearly two years later. It was 239207.19, ah believe.

Rahman: Of course...

::Roshanara glanced at the other two. The other woman Rosek was making her own assessments of her new captain, the Kriosian could tell. When their eyes met, Rosek's quickly darted downward.::

::Roshanara smiled slightly and gestured to the two chairs in front of her desk and the small bench to the side for the three to sit.::

Rahman: Please, have a seat. First, let me welcome you aboard Veritas.

Blair: It’s a pleasure to meet you Captain.

::Her smile warmed as she exchanged nods with the commander.::

Rahman: Each of you offers skills and talent that is greatly needed for our mission, which is serving the people of this region. It's a challenging one for certain, but one that is worthwhile.

::She paused as she looked across the gathered faces again.::

Rahman: All right, what's with the weary faces? You three haven't been overindulging yourself in the New Macau nightlife, have you?

::She said it in jest, but something told her it wasn't the bright lights, drinks, and gambling tables of the Coalition capital that had taken its toll on her new officers.::

Rosek: ::smiles sheepishly:: We’re all still recovering from a virus we encountered during our last away mission. I’m still feeling a bit off-kilter.

::She saw Blair nod in commiseration.::

Rahman: Well I trust you will make sure to seek the proper care you need to fully recover.

Skyfire: Aye, captain. Ah’ll remind ‘em, even if ah ‘ave tae drag them to sickbay myself.

Blair: ::nods and smiles:: Don’t worry, I’ll make sure to get it done.

::The other woman merely nodded.::

Rahman: Good. While you are in sickbay, that would be a good time to check in with our chief medical officer Dr. Ryan.

::She turned towards Skyfire.::

Rahman: Even if not for a full check up, then at least to make proper introductions.

Skyfire: RESPONSE

Blair: RESPONSE

Rosek: RESPONSE

::The captain stood up and walked around her desk to stand near the bench, where a display was mounted above it along the wall. She activated a view of Antor II as general information about the planet appeared along with a topographical map.::

Rahman: So Antor II. Since you three have had a bit of time to get to know the place, what are your general impressions

::She added.::

Rahman: Beyond the mining operations, casinos, and showgirls featured in the brochures.

Skyfire: RESPONSE

Blair: RESPONSE

Rosek: RESPONSE

::She nodded before looking back at the display and pulling up a more detailed map.::

Rahman: The latest figures from the government are that sixty percent of the domes remain sustainable. Those living in the areas declared uninhabitable have been moved to the central hubs such as New Macau, but that has led to a host of new problems with overcrowding. Furthermore, there are still pockets of the population that remain in these abandoned districts.

::She turned back to the three seated officers.::

Rahman: And perhaps not necessarily the most upstanding citizens of Antor.

Skyfire: RESPONSE

Blair: RESPONSE

Rosek: RESPONSE
