((Spa, Swimming Pool, Deck 10, USS Veritas))

A still uniformed Solak raised an eyebrow, before turning and taking a few paces, and jumping into the pool.

Ukinix: Oh, Captain?  Here you go.  This one’s ready.  Captain’s privilege.

With a pair of tongs, Wil grabbed a perfectly cooked chicken sausage and placed it diagonally on a piece of bread, before covering it with barbecued onions.  He folded the bread at its points across the sausage, before placing it in a serviette and handing it to Roshanara.

Ukinix: ::smiling:: Happy new year.

Rahman: Response

Wil looked around and saw that Jonathon was grabbing a beer, and the others were starting to mingle.  A smile came to his face – especially when he saw Solak swimming freestyle in one of the lanes.  He shook his head, before he turned his attention back to the barbeque and took a swig from his beer bottle.  As he turned a few sausages with a pair of tongs, he was almost in his element – but something was missing.

He made several taps on his nearby PADD, dramatically reducing the volume of the music that was playing from his turn-of-the-millennium Terran music collection, so that it was only just audible above the sizzle of the hot plates.

PADD: // Let-there-be-drums… there was drums!… let there be gui-taaar… there was gui-tar… Ohhhhh let there be rock… //

Cooking a barbeque reminded him of being home in Fremantle.  As he turned more sausages, a little smile came to his face.  In his mind, he could see Freo Park, and the nearby statue of the man with a microphone in his hand.  It wasn’t until after the concert holodeck program with Jayla and Geoffrey that he’d made the connection between that statue and some of the music he enjoyed listening to.  The sculpture was of a man that had lived in Fremantle centuries earlier and had sung some of the songs in Wil’s collection.  Those songs now meant a lot more to Wil, and reminded him that sometimes Earth was really small.

He looked up briefly to see Kelrod and a new person that Wil didn’t recognise enter the area.  More new staff, which made him smile.

He turned his attention back to the barbeque, and nodded a little as the sausages, burger patties and lamb neared completion.  He took a sniff of the food, before bringing the beer bottle near his lips.

Ukinix: ::Quietly, to himself:: Bloody legend, Ukinix.

As he took a mouthful of his beer, he saw yet *another* new officer in the pool area.

Ukinix: oO Wow, another one!  She’s Klingon.  Funny, she kinda looks like G’var-  Oo

As she took a few steps towards him, the look she had on her face was familiar.  Very familiar.

Ukinix: oO It *is* G’var! Oo

That was the thought he had to himself as he spat out a little of the contents of the beer in his mouth in the opposite direction, before coughing, and then painfully swallowing the remainder.

She stopped a step in front of him, as he tried to determine that his mind wasn’t playing tricks on him.  It really was G’var.  Except, much more… Klingony.

Ukinix: oO What the hell? Oo

G'var: Well Pusher, long time no see...::taking a deep breath and closing the last step:: Your apron does say "Kiss the Cook" I would hate to disobey orders.

Wil’s jaw dropped so much that if the planet Jupiter had have flown into his mouth, it would have got lodged between his teeth.

After a few seconds, he finally spoke.

Ukinix: ::Quietly:: It really is you, isn’t it.

She stepped forward again, and taking Wil by surprise kissed him, running her hand through his hair.  He could sense the longing in her.  He returned her kiss, but his eyes told another story.  They were wide open in shock, trying to process what was going on.

G'var:::nuzzling Wil's neck:: I'm sorry for not telling you I was leaving, Father wouldn't allow it, and I hated not being able to say goodbye to you Beloved.

He took a few seconds to respond.  When he hugged her, he could feel ridges along her spine

Ukinix: I’m sorry you didn’t tell me either.

His stomach felt like it was in knots.  He had previously wondered what the first moment of seeing G’var again would be like, if it were to happen, but he could have never anticipated what he experienced at that moment.  He was feeling a combination of happy, shocked, and annoyed.  He stood back, and smiled awkwardly at her, before he noticed Addison walking towards them.

He looked at G’var one last time, and noticed how the ridges on her forehead had pushed back her hairline.

Ukinix: ::Quietly, to G’var:: Looks like you’ve got a story to tell.

MacKenzie: I hope I’m not late! ::hugging G’var:: Lieutenant, it’s good to see you – I didn’t realize you were back!

G’var: Response

Addison playfully sniffed a few times, which broke through the weird emotions he was feeling, and made him chuckle a little.

MacKenzie: ::to Ukinix:: Do I smell… chicken tikka??

Ukinix: Indeed you do.  Interested?

She held up two fingers.

MacKenzie: I’ll start with two. And lots of peppers and onions.

He placed two of the spiced chicken sausages on two pieces of bread that were on a plate, covered them with onions, then squeezed a zigzag of tomato sauce on them.  He proudly handed the plate to Addison.

Ukinix: There’yar.  Two snags in bread, doc.

She took a bite of one of the sausages in bread, and then nodded at Wil.

MacKenzie: My hat’s off to the chef.  Really well done, Wil. If you’ll excuse me.

He gave her a friendly wink as she walked away before he looked at G’var again.

G’var: Response

Wil felt his jaw clench a little.

Ukinix: ::Whispering to G’var:: I missed you *every day*.  It’s been hard.  You leave without saying anything, I don’t hear boo from you, then you suddenly show up, and expect everything to be ok?

G’var: Response

He took a deep breath, annoyed that he had allowed himself to get upset.

Ukinix: Sorry.  I- Let’s just talk.  Later.  Right now, I’ve got a party to cater for… ::smiling:: Besides, I can’t imagine a Klingon warrior would smell a barbeque and not work up a hunger?

He gave her a playful bump with his upper arm, as Jonathon joined them.

(OOC: Gluing sims here.  I’m going to assume that Addison re-joins G’var, Jonathon and Wil after speaking with Roshanara and Solak)

Ukinix: ::To Jonathon:: Hey mate, hungry?

G’var/MacKenzie: Responses

Cumar: Nah. I saw that he’d started on the cheese burgers, and was waiting for one.

Wil looked at one of the burgers, and pierced it with a knife.  Looking like it was almost ready, he grabbed a nearby stack of cheese slices and placed one on each burger, before closing the lid on the barbeque.

Ukinix: ::Smiling:: In two more minutes, you’ll be in burger heaven.

G’var/MacKenzie: Response

Cumar: Don’t worry, doc. I won’t do any diving board shenanigans after imbibing. Cheers. :: He raised the can of beer and had another swig. ::

Wil took a swig from his beer.

Ukinix: ::cheekily:: I can’t make the same guarantees, Doc.

G’var/MacKenzie: Response

Wil lifted the lid on the barbeque.

Ukinix: Righto.  Who’s hungry?

He handed out food to everyone (with extra food on G’var’s plate).  Finally, he put some sausages on a plate for himself, then made his way over to the pool’s edge with his PADD under his arm, and two fresh beer bottles in his other hand.  He sat next to G’var, dangling his legs in the water.  He handed a beer bottle to her.

Ukinix: Hungry, I see.

G’var: Response

Ukinix: Oh yeah, you have plenty of explaining to do. But-

Wil nodded.  There was a moment of awkward silence, as he took a bite from his sausage, not knowing what to say next.  The silence between them was filled by the quietly playing music from his PADD.

PADD: // .. and this-is what theeey had-to-say, let-there-be light… sooouuund… drummmms… gui-tar… Ohhhhh let there be rock!… //

Wil finally rubbed her upper arm before he continued.

Ukinix: ::Smiling:: I’m glad you’re back, G.

G’var: Response
