[V-AUD] Ensign T'Katt Dugoras- Surprise Advancment

Rahman: All right then, let’s get down to some important announcements. First, as you may or may not know, Commander Mei’konda and I will be heading off to this year’s Admirals’ Banquet. Which means, yes, the ship will be without its captain and first officer.

::She raised her index finger for a moment.::

Rahman: Now before you get worried—or too excited—the ship will be in good hands under the ever watchful eyes…

::She looked back at Delano and smiled.::

Rahman: …and ears of Lt. Commander Delano.

Delano: We’ll do our best not to run into any tachyon storms or pirate fleets while you’re away. 

Mei’konda: Do your best, Evan.  I won’t be here to order into leadiing a dangerous away mission, after all.

:: T'Katt had no reason to worry, he had the privilege of serving beside Delano and felt him to be a perfectly capable man.::

::She turned back to the audience.::

Rahman: As such, I expect you all to give him your best.

::She looked over at her senior staff and then at Mei’konda, nodding at him to step forward.::

Rahman: Now, if you’ll indulge your captain, we have a few honors to give. First, Doctor Skyfire, would you please step forward?

:: The Doctor gave a quiet nod and stepped forward. ::

Rahman: Doctor, for your service of at least six months as a department head on Veritas, I’m pleased to award you the Department Chief Ribbon.

Skyfire: Thank you, Captain.

Rahman: In addition, doctor, your fine work on this vessel has not gone unnoticed. Your commitment to your duties as a Starfleet officer and your oath as a physician are unquestionable. Your persistence at getting your captain to attend her physical… admirable. As such, I am very pleased to promote you to the rank of Lieutenant Commander, with all the rights and privileges thereof.

Skyfire: Thank you, Captain.

:: The Doctor didn't seem to be truly surprised by this interaction.::

::She nodded as Mei’konda placed the ribbon and handed her the pip. She reached up and pinned the third pip to the doctor’s collar.::

Rahman: Congratulations, doctor.

::There was applause as she stepped back.::

Delano: Congratulations, doctor. 

Dugoras: Congratulations Doctor

:: Skyfire gave another silent nod then returned to position.::

::The captain turned towards the senior staff again.::

Rahman: Next, Counselor Dugoras, will you step forward?

:: The question took him by surprise but he approached with little hesitation.::

Dugoras: Captain?

Rahman: I hope you enjoyed your first mission as a Starfleet officer.

Dugoras: It was an exilerating and... illuminating experience. I look forward to my next big assignment.

Rahman: There are plenty of adventures to come, but I’m afraid this will have been your last as an ensign.

Dugoras: Sir?

Rahman: For your excellent performance as ship’s counselor and dedication to duty, I hereby promote you to the rank of lieutenant junior grade, with all the rights and privileges thereof.

::She took the hollow pip from Mei’konda and clasped it onto the counselor’s collar.::

Rahman: Congratulations, lieutenant.

:: T'Katt was stunned for a moment as he considered the pip and title. Certainly, he had on the surface performed as an officer should in the field, and as a counselor, he felt he had done a decent job of making himself available despite having not met with everyone yet. But as he thought about it he wondered if it was deserved, there were many other members of Starfleet who had waited or were still waiting much greater length's of time for a promotion than he had.::

Dugoras: I'm honored, thank you. :: He formed himself up properly and saluted before returning to his original place.::

:: Time didn't seem to be a factor in this matter as he pondered it. The captain and her staff knew what they were doing he figured. He finally decided that even if they had felt him worthy of a promotion he felt he had done virtually nothing in his career yet, he made a promise to himself to earn his title while serving it, he needed his own approval more than anyone else's.::

::After everyone congratulated T'Katt, she looked back at the other officers left.::

Rahman: I want to give a special recognition to a guest we have here. Doctor Alentonis. Would you come here please, doctor?

Alentonis: Me? :: He stepped forward awkwardly and made his way to the dais where the captain was. ::

Rahman: Doctor, I know you’re not a Starfleet officer, but I checked and I believe as captain, I have the right to award the Captain’s Commendation to anyone I see fit. And I see fit now to award *you* my appreciation as this starship’s commanding officer. Thank you for your assistance this past mission.

Alentonis: Uh...you’re welcome? :: He paused for a moment, unsure what to say. :: Thank you, by the way.

::Mei’konda took the Captain’s Commendation ribbon and placed it on the man’s chest.::

Rahman: I look forward to our future missions together, doctor.

Alentonis: As do I.

::As Mei’konda stepped away, the captain called out to him.::

Rahman: Not so fast, commander.

Mei’konda: ...Captain?

Rahman: You didn’t think you’d be able to pull that little atmospheric stunt of yours and not get your captain’s attention, did you?

:: Mei’konda reached up to pinch his brow.  He chuckled, into his hand. ::

Mei’konda: It wasn’t exactly desiigned to attract attention, but I suppose it was a bit of a show, wasn’t it?

Rahman: Well, for not crashing the ship on top of your captain and instead driving off an attacking team of Orion Syndicate mercenaries, likely saving her life and that of the rest of the away team, I hereby award you the Federation Cross.

:: He straightened up, falling into attention as Captain Rahman drew out a box, and lifted the ribbon and medal that was contained within.  He held still, a smile on his face.::

Rahman: Congratulations.

Mei’konda: Thank you, Captain.  I’ll try not to earn too many of these.

Rahman: Finally, all members of the crew who took part in this mission are hereby awarded the Orion Syndicate Service Medal for their actions against the Orion Syndicate. All members of the crew who took part in this mission are also awarded the Explorer’s Ribbon for the discovery of the Romulan Treasure Fleet and the uncharted planet…

::She looked to Delano.::

Rahman: Commander, have we got a name for this planet yet?

Delano: The planet’s official designation for our logs has been Casia 55 IV. However, we’ve been thinking of naming it Pellecia, in honor of the Romulans who settled here. 

Rahman: ::nods:: Note it in the log.

Mei’konda: I like it, Evan.  Very appropriaate.

::She looked back at the audience.::

Rahman: Thank you, everyone, and well-done!

:: T'Katt waited patiently as the crowd cheered began to shift and mingle, he then made his way around the other officers there.::
