OOC: This is my IC introduction to Tim. You can read his biography
here. Jon Cumar is being reverted to PNPC status.
(( Outside Ketar Capitol, City of Opportunity, Ketar V))
Ever since the completion of the reskarii alloy lined shuttle Alliance, Tim had been busy becoming a Starfleet officer. His already valuable experience as an archaeologist and metallurgist led to him being selected as an officer candidate just a few days after Christmas in 2395. Two years and some change later, and he was now a lieutenant commander in blue, helping where he could on Esperance in his capacity as a science officer.
Tim had spent the last five weeks working with the social services commission of Ketar V on the structural integrity of the Romulan shantytowns. They seemed to contain a mixed variance of different architectural styles, trying as much as possible to mimic that of their homeworlds in an effort to preserve their heritage. While he had no doubt that the buildings were sound in design, he had to offer a few cosmetic and structural changes to make them sustainable over a longer period of time to ensure longevity. The talk of the shantytowns had been abuzz with the approaching visit by the Federation Secretary of the Exterior, and the ship that would be bringing her -- the USS Veritas.
(( Flashback -- 3 days earlier, Reman resettlement district ))
Alentonis was staring at some maps and plans, ears open as he listened to the commissioner continue to explain his concerns surrounding the integrity of the building being made with inferior material. From a passing pair of humans just outside the door, Tim could make out a few words.
Worker 1: So you know about that one Starfleet ship in the area? They’re bringing some Federation big-wig to come take a look around on some kinda PR tour.
Worker 2: Oh, the Veritas? Yeah, I heard something similar. Wonder what they want to look at us for…
Worker 1: No idea. Maybe nothing…
At the mention of the Veritas, the professor kept his face neutral but was inwardly smiling. He remembered his days as a civilian archaeologist aboard it fondly, and he’d long since gotten over his fear of transporters and shuttles. Even the prospect of going back into space was now appealing, as opposed to what it had been before -- a daunting prospect.

(( Time Index: Present ))
He’d remembered overhearing something that LtCmdr Lael Rosek worked on about some self repairing domes that were going to probably be used in the reconstruction efforts on Antor II, and he had been pouring through the databases looking for any sign of the plans. He had remembered also that they were still in the development phase, and as such were probably not officially approved or usable. So with that in mind, he resorted to what he knew: using the existing metals to reinforce the structures.
Now that his task here was complete, he had his orders to rendezvous with the ‘tas. With that in mind, and his duffel bag over his shoulder, he glanced around for the contingent of Starfleet officers with their “big wig” VIP escort. It didn’t take him long to spot the uniforms, the beautifully scarred face of his skipper being a welcome sight. With a smile, he made his approach and presented his PADD to the captain.
Alentonis: Lieutenant commander Timothy Alentonis reporting for duty, Captain Rahman. A pleasure to see you again.

Alentonis: I was sent here almost a month ago by the lads on Esperance to help out with some structural integrity issues in the shantytowns. Been working with the social services commission.
