((The Shadows))
::Captain Oskari Virtanen held steady at the helm of his ship, a modest vessel named the Marketta, after his ex-wife. He'd named her before the divorce, and frankly, Oskari figured since he loved his ship more than her namesake, why should she be forced to change her name?::
::And so, the more faithful Marketta made her way around the last of the gravimetric distortions that were scattered around the system. The bulkheads shuddered, but he knew she'd make it through. After all, they'd made this run now several dozen times, although admittedly, the last time he'd done so regularly had been several months ago.::
::But given that this was now his second trip back to the Seheik Settlement since the blue-eyed Vulcan had called for him again unexpectedly a few weeks ago, Oskari wondered if the Marketta was due for some upgrades. Surely the Vulcan would understand--and provide the necessary payment.::
::The trembling on the bridge subsided as the planet came into view, and Oskari shouted for his men to make preparations to land.::
((Seheik Settlement Starport))
::Once they'd settled onto the surface, Oskari let his crew begin unloading supplies as he walked out of the cargo hold and headed in towards the center of the town to make his delivery.::
::He found his way towards their usual meeting spot, a noisy bar that catered more for the visiting and often unruly crews from the starport than the settlement's pointy-eared residents. Still, there was of course the occasional Romulan or two, and even the curious Vulcan, and none were more curious than his blue-eyed friend.::
::Looking across the bar, he spotted him already sitting in the back booth, waiting. Oskari gave him a broad smile, placed an order with the bartender, and then walked over to join the Vulcan.::
Virtanen: My friend! I bet you didn't expect me to see you again so soon! ::He laughed.:: I certainly didn't.
Delano: RESPONSE
Virtanen: Actually, I think it's good I see you now. Things are very tense outside of the Shadows. Probably best you stay here.
Delano: RESPONSE
::It wasn't surprising he hadn't heard the news. Like everything else in the Shoals, news was slow to make it through the region.::
Virtanen: There was an attack on Shadow's Edge. On the governor.
Delano: RESPONSE
::Oskari waved off the speculation.::
Virtanen: No, he lives. Besides... ::The captain shook his head.:: Politicians are like cockroaches. Too much effort to kill, and even if you do, just more will show up to take their place.
Delano: RESPONSE
::This time, Oskari pointed a finger towards the Vulcan.::
Virtanen: Which is why your friends messed up. And not only that...
::He leaned forward a bit, grinning.::
Virtanen: They killed a Starfleet captain.
Delano: RESPONSE
::He just continued to smile back at the Vulcan before he picked up his mug. He gave a slight shrug.::
Virtanen: Eh, I just tell you what I know. They think the ones responsible look a lot like you and your friends. Maybe a good idea to get some minor surgery.
Delano: RESPONSE
::Oskari took a drink, and then set his mug down and then pulled out a PADD.::
Virtanen: I'm not here to deliver news. You have a message.
Delano: RESPONSE
::He slid the PADD across the table towards the Vulcan. He'd already read it anyway. He didn't understand why someone would pay to have him deliver such a nonsensical message. If it was a joke, it was an awfully expensive one.::
"Pan,
It's time to leave Neverland. The Lost Boys are in danger.
Help me find you.
-Hook"
::Oskari watched as the Vulcan studied the message. He leaned back, still in a good mood.::
Virtanen: Hook, eh? As in "Captain Hook?"
::Oskari let out a hearty laugh before taking another sip from his mug.::
Virtanen: So I see I'm not the first pirate captain you've done business with.
Delano: RESPONSE
TAG!
