to UFOP: StarBase 118 – USS Veritas
((Officer's Mess, USS Veritas))

::In a few hours, Veritas would be departing Outpost 3, leaving both Tristam and her behind as the ship headed back towards Esperance. So, rather than wait to have their ribbons and recognition sent via subspace message, Roshanara insisted that one final ceremony be assembled in the officer's mess. Everyone was in their dress whites, some holding glasses of wine and other spirits.::

::Taking a step towards the windows of the room, the captain turned to face her senior staff.::

Rahman: Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for gathering here today.

Any: RESPONSE

Rahman: It's hard to believe it's already been over a year since I was named master of this vessel, and though it was an assignment given in the wake of tragedy, what we've done in this past year continues the legacy of this ship's previous captain and the fine tradition of Starfleet.

::She held up her own glass (of something that look suspiciously non-alcoholic).::

Rahman: This has not been an easy assignment. I know many among the crew have joked that it is a DINO: domestic-in-name-only.

::She glanced across the room, across each of their faces.::

Rahman: We go days, sometimes weeks without real-time subspace communication. Letters from home... the latest news from the FNS... even the last batch of tetraball scores can seem so distant. Rest assured, while the Invicta Expedition or those on the far-off expeditions to the Gamma and Delta Quadrants might receive the gaze of the press, the work you all have done is no less impressive.

::She put down her glass and paused for a moment.::

Rahman: ...and no less impactful. Perhaps even more so. Because while your feats may not get splashed across a newsfeed, it does touch the lives of the millions who call this region home.

::She called for Lt. Commander Mei'konda to come up to present the ribbons.::

Rahman: So to begin, I'd like to first award everyone here the Extended Service Ribbon as we finish this first tour of duty together in the Shoals.

Any: RESPONSE

Rahman: Next, Lieutenant Delano, will you step forward?

Delano: RESPONSE

Rahman: Lieutenant, we have already discussed your taking on additional duties as second officer of this ship. But there was something else I wanted to do, something that required the recognition here now of your fellow officers.

::She took out a small wooden box and presented it to Mei'konda.::

Rahman: And something I believe your fiance would want to be a part of now. Evan Delano, since your return to active duty as a Starfleet officer, you have shown great dedication to duty, both to your ship and fellow shipmates and also to the Federation citizens we serve and the residents of the Shoals. You have shown yourself to be an honorable man who exhibits a fine character worthy of the uniform you have chosen to return to.

::She smiled broadly, directing Mei'konda to open the box.::

Rahman: It is my great pleasure to reinstate you to the rank of Lieutenant Commander.

::She glanced over at the Caitian to pin the third pip to the Vulcanoid's collar.::

Rahman: Commander?

Mei'konda: RESPONSE

Delano: RESPONSE

Any: RESPONSE
