((Infirmary, Promenade, Deep Space Nine))

It had barely been a few days since Thor had finally been towed to DS9 and Alieth walked the alien design hallways to report to the infirmary. However, her attire that day (a plain, dark, traditional dress) showed that she was not attending such an appointment as a medical officer, but as a patient.

The door hissed in a peculiar fashion in front of her, as did all the doors in the station, an amalgam of Federation and Bajoran technology overlapped on a Cardassian frame, exposing the interior of the medical centre. There, the young Vulcan woman met a face she did not expect to find.

Lieutenant Commander Addison MacKenzie.

Rumours spread very quickly on a starship, and even more so on that station, and despite Alieth's efforts to remain oblivious to such time-wasting distractions, one of them had caught her pointy ears and had drawn her attention.

Thor's CMO would not return to the Vesta class after the vessel recovered from her injuries, but instead would be transferred to a small Nova as First Officer.

The Vulcan woman refused to let her opinion on the matter surface on her features, and stepped forward with determined strides and a hieratic expression until she eventually reached the redhead.

Addison spotted the Vulcan on an intercept course and resisted the urge to crack a smile at the junior medical officer’s gait. Instead, the ginger bit the inside of her lip hard enough to straighten her face and ask a question without showing her amusement.

MacKenzie: Something on your mind?

The tiny Vulcan looked up at the face of the CMO, between the closeness and the difference in height, soon her neck acquired a visible painful angle.

Alieth:  I am overdue in my medical check-ups. Due to the specific circumstances of the incident and the necessary follow-up, it is most efficient to do both in a single appointment.

Addison didn’t understand the premise - she was on leave, and there was an entire team of physicians on the station who were just as suited to see to Alieth’s care. Nevertheless, she understood that some people formed attachments with their physicians and it would be more likely for them to be honest about their health with doctors they trusted. So, she raised an eyebrow, opened her arms, and gestured to one of the biobeds.

MacKenzie: After you, Doctor.

The Vulcan nodded and proceeded to climb up to the biobed with poise and grace. When the process was over, her feet dangled well above the floor.

Addison picked up a medical tricorder and opened it.

MacKenzie: So, how have you been feeling since the last time I saw you? That concussion was concerning…

Alieth: For the most part, my physical status is nominal, yet I have found my concentration level deficient and my meditation and sleep time to be both insufficient and ineffective.

The Vulcan tipped slightly her head and surveyed the human's face for a few minutes. The tricorder beeping was the only thing that broke the thick silence for a while, until eventually Alieth blinked and spoke again.

Alieth: Nevertheless, that is the expected outcome of that kind of injury.

MacKenzie: Any other symptoms besides that?

The Vulcan tightened her lips marginally on the tiniest pout on that side of Bajoran wormhole.

Alieth: Nothing noteworthy.

Addison made it a point to run several neural scans, but before she could complete them, the Vulcan interjected. The sentence was delivered in a flat and detached tone, even more than customary for a Vulcan woman. The content, however, was radically different.

Alieth: You leave us.

Addison bit the inside of her cheek, her eyes rising from the tricorder. The cat, apparently, was out of the bag.

MacKenzie: I’m sorry?

The junior officer held her gaze and the only variation in her attitude was that the slanted eyebrows joined briefly over her eyes, casting a dark shadow over her stare.

Alieth: ::Pronouncing each word carefully, giving them a stern weight..::You leave us.

It was very clear to Addison that there would be no deflecting this course of conversation.

MacKenzie: There was an opportunity...

The Vulcan's gaze turned even darker. She leaned forward imperceptibly, and clasped the edge of the biobed.

Alieth: At a time of need. Crew needs you. Yet, you are placing a personal interest over the welfare of the crew you promised to safeguard.

Addison’s brow furrowed.

MacKenzie: Did you expect that I would stay on the Thor forever?
