((Anjunaar City – Governmental District))

::The warmth and comfort of the Aegis spun around them in a sea of blue stars, light being replaced with almost oppressive darkness filled with the smell of smoke  and the tang of disruptor fire. For a brief moment there was silence, the militia turning slowly as the large formation of Marines appeared practically in the middle of their disorganised rabble.::

Tatash: ::bellowing:: “Open fire!”

:: Several barely had time to lift their weapons before the orange pulses of the Marines carbine started hammering at them. Targets toppled and fell, those unfortunate enough to have shoddy reflexes cut to ribbons while the rest of the rag wearing assailants threw themselves under what cover they could find.::

Tatash: “Break formation, Fire and manoeuvre! Raisillius, push our right flank!”

Raisillius: ?

::Tatash swung his cannon upwards as one of the troop transports that had smashed into the compound tried to start it’s engines, hitting the trigger. The barrel let out a large ball of blueish green energy, impacting into the side of the boxy truck before exploding outwards in a flaming fireball as the metal was superheated, leaving it a half molten glowing heap.

The initial shock quickly wore off as the return fire came pouring towards them, green bolts slamming down around them with untrained yet deadly consequences. A black armoured figure dropped next to him, immediately being dragged away by one of the designated medics under a flurry of covering fire.::

Tatash: “D’Hass, suppressive fire on that position” ::gesturing towards the forward barricade::

D’Hass: ?

::That bought him a little time to look towards the rooftop and raise his hand, waving it back and forth just once before giving a single thumbs up.

The result was swift, a few flashes of supressed orange flickering from the rooftop before three more targets dropped without a whisper, all shots landing with precision on their unforunate brainstems. Cold, logical Vulcan efficiency at it’s finest.

The battle was rapid, vicious, several Marines already down around him but it was clear the ratio was in their favour. Already the enemy not cowering behind barricades was started to panic, some turning to run while others seemed at a loss of what to do. Still, until they stopped shooting, there would be no prisoners.

Another belch of plasma erupted from his weapon, shattering into a shoddy barricade and blasting it apart as two more terrorists became flaming blue torches before crumbling down into ash as the impossible heat consumed them.::

Raisillius: ?

Tatash: “Push into the main structure, fix bayonets and go hand to hand if you need too, but get Al’Akir secured.”

Raisillius: ?

::The shots coming at them were started to become more and more erratic. Each one being met with a counter volley of precision Phaser fire, resulting in either a falling body or the sound of running footsteps away from the scene of the conflict.::

Tatash: “Fan out, start clearing the courtyard. Disarm the wounded and mark them for aid”

D’Hass: ?

::The shots had stopped, aside from the occasional whump coming from inside the building as Raisillius cleared out the infestation internally, replaced by the far more unpleasant sounds of the wounded and dying. Some of the poor souls had lost their head coverings, revealing faces far too young to be playing such a deadly game. They were just criminals, addicts, kids that had fallen foul of life now being thrown against a deadly machine, for probably nothing more then the next hit of ATH or ‘street crd’

But it was not Tatash’s place to feel guilt or remorse. They had raised their weapons, shot at his soldiers and slaughtered some of his men. To win, one has to be willing to take and accept their risks. Now they would reap their reward for losing::

Raisillius: =/\= ?

Tatash: =/\= “Good work Captain. We’ve cleared out the courtyard, the rest of the mobs dispersed. Ran like cowards”.

Raisillius: =/\= ?

Tatash: “Lieutenant, inform Major Dal and Commander Taybrim we’ve secured the main compound and have the Governor secure but need medical support.”

D’Hass: ?

::A few of the ragged survivors were knelt down in front of his men, hands bound with flexicuffs. The irony of their pose compared to the horror they had inflicted earlier wasn’t lost on the Gorn, but unlike those creatures they had morality.

He looked as his groups reformed, moving towards the medic’s working as the Marines built up a perimeter, setting up the automated turrets he’d brought with them for the trip. Nothing would be getting into the compound now without a correct IFF signal, not unless it wanted to be vaporised.

Too many Marines lay on the floor. Some lucid, clutching various wounds but at least seven weren’t  moving at all, being draped with sheeting. Like those that attacked, they understood the risks they were taking. Beam in’s were never easy, never safe in a combat zone. They were targets as soon as they had materialised.::

Raisillius: ?

::He hadn’t heard the Captain approaching, his armor smouldering::

Tatash: “We lost seven out here, Lieutenant D’Hass is calling in a medivac for the wounded. You? You look like you’ve took a hit.”

Raisillius: ?

::That brought the total up to 9. 9 deaths too many::

Tatash: “At best guess we’ve downed around 30, Hughes probably took out a dozen more from his sniping point. Doesn’t make it any less tragic, but we made the bastards pay. Get to the medic and patch yourself up Captain, report Lieutenant?”

Raisillius/D’Hass: ?
