((Voodoo Jazz Lounge - Promenade, StarBase 118))

::The dinner was, in a word, fantastic. Good food, good company, good conversation.

As it wiled down to the end and desserts were brought out Sal snatched a particularly delectable looking pastry (all the while maintaining the position that he did not, in fact, have an addiction to pastries) before he slipped away from the table.

In another situation it might have been considered curious for the overly sociable Betazoid to avoid a social gathering; but for dinners such as these it was a common tell: there were rosewood boxes somewhere, and those boxes held honors and awards for the crew. It wasn't a hidden thing, though Sal tended to handle such ceremonies with an understated elegance. The main focus of the night was on the camaraderie and general celebration of it all; and the awards were a highlight. A cherry on the top of the sundae.

As dessert came to a close, but before everyone was able to escape from the table, the lights dimmed and a gentle spotlight came up on the table at the back side of the room. Sal smiled at the gathered with a gentle welcome.::

Taybrim: As you all know, I have the honor of presenting awards and occasionally promotions to my crew; and I am most happy that all of you could gather to share this time with us. As I look at the gathered, I see so much potential in all of you, and my words alone cannot express how proud I am to serve with each and every one of you. ::He offered a genuine, soft smile:: However I'm going to try to make my words count and my thanks apparent. So we'll begin without further ado. ::He checked the list of names:: First up, upon hearing of our clever and quick solution to the Tribble troubles, Starfleet Command has authorized the award of the Innovation Ribbon for quick thinking, quick containment, and a number of very clever and innovative solutions to a breeding problem ranging from good response from our new medical teams, clever containment and the use of Klingon Pheremones to stop the advance of our weaponized furballs. I must also add that 'hairless tribbles' had been added to the roster of recognized tribble breeds, under the species: Polygeminus grex lianius 118. So now everyone who was onboard the station at that time can say they were part of tribble history. ::He was grinning widely now, amused at the adventures a simple tribble ocnvention had brought to the station.:: This award is presented to: Theo Whittaker, Baylen Anders, Kaitlyn Falcon, Antero Flynn, Freya Andersen, Cadfael Peters, Mirra Ezo, Zinna, Trel'lis, Tatash and Trellis Vondaryan.

Any: ?

::As the applause died down, Sal settled back, ready to get into the meat of the ceremony. The things that focused on the far more dangerous and far reaching mission they had just completed.::

Taybrim: ::Voice becoming more sonorous and sober:: Next I want to focus on the actions on Tilanna V. We successfully helped the planetary authorities uncover a damaging criminal syndicate, and provided hope for recovery from the street drug All Time High. Tilanna V is now accepted under the sovereignty of the Klingon Empire, and the Klingons have vowed to continue to prosecute and remove the criminal elements that plague Tilanna. This will benefit both our allies in the Klingon Empire and our own borders. I am awarding the Join Meritorious Unit to the away team, who worked with the Tilanna authorities including Police Inspector Jemet to uncover Malinov's murderer and start the clean up on the streets of Anjunaar. Will Theo Whittaker, Trellis Vondaryan, Tyler Kelly, Zinna, Freya Andersen and Antero Flynn please come forward.

::He presented the ribbon to the six officers with a soft smile of congratulations. He knew how hard their jobs had been on the planet. Recognition of that hard work that was bittersweet - on one hand this was the chance for people to see what good deeds they had done, but on the other hand the memories of those deeds were painful.::

Any: ?

Taybrim: This is even more impressive seeing as this is Lt. Commander Theo Whittaker's first away mission; one which he led with a good degree of poise and leadership. Theo, I am very proud of you, and for your strong leadership I recognize your service with the Captain's Commendation.

Whittaker: ?

Any: ?

Taybrim: Furthermore, we had two officers sustain serious injuries in the line of duty. Both Lt Commander Tyler Kelly and Lieutenant Zinna were responding to a call for backup and moved directly into a dangerous situation to provide aid for their fellow crew, sustaining injuries while trying to fulfill their duty. For this I am awarding the Purple Heart to both of you.

Kelly/Zinna: ?

Taybrim: ::He offered them a soft smile:: I can also say that I am most happy to see that you are both feeling better! I rest that miraculous recovery on your strong will and the skill of our medical staff - though I'll get to that second one later ::Dark eyes twinkled, he turned back to the crowd:: I am also happy to announce that Zinna will be the head counselor on StarBase 118, and the counseling department will be under her lead. Lieutenant Zinna has shown herself a capable leader and supportive team member over the last few missions and her actions in and after this mission have given me great confidence in her ability to do great things in the counseling department. Congratulations, Lieutenant!

Zinna: ?

Any: ?

Taybrim: And last, but certainly not least, in this team you had an officer who really showed his leadership capabilities, and excellent flying skills. In looking over his records I found that he was long overdue for a promotion and I am thrilled to be able to be the commanding officer to recognize him. So, if Antero Flynn could please join me! As of this moment he is officially a full lieutenant with all rights and responsibilities therein. ::He grinned, presenting the rosewood box to the Risian, wherein lay a second full gold pip.::

Flynn: ?

Taybrim: Congratulations, Lieutenant!

Flynn/Any: ?

::As the applause died down, Sal looked to the assembled again::

Taybrim: The primary goal of our mission was to find the murderer of Boris Malinov- something I am happy to say we accomplished, and again so many congratulations to the away team for you success. Our secondary goal was to provide a treatment for the street drug All Time High. We had one officer and one consultant who were a major contributing factor in that success, and indirectly saved countless thousands of lives. I am awarding the Medical Science ribbon to Dr. Mirra Ezo and Mr. Arden Cain. ((OOC - in game, this would be whatever civilian equivalent recognition there is for Cain. Out of game it is the same ribbon for both!))

Cain/Ezo: ?

Taybrim: Also, Dr. Ezo certainly proved herself as a capable leader, forged in the fires of adversity. Which is why she needs to stay put for a few moments longer. ::He smiled again:: She did an excellent job liaising with the ship, working with the mobile sickbay and treating her fellow crew to ensure recovery. I have full confidence in her, and I am happy to announce that Mirra Ezo will be our Chief Medical Officer of StarBase 118 Ops.

Ezo: ?

Taybrim: ::A gregarious smile, almost playful:: Well, I wouldn't throw you into the lion's den without a bigger shield, so I am also happy to announce that as of this moment Dr. Mirra Ezo is a full lieutenant with all rights and responsibilities therein.

Ezo: ?

Taybrim: Congratulations, Lieutenant!

Ezo/Any: ?

::As the new round of applause died down, Sal settled back to finish off the awards.::

Taybrim: Next, I am presenting the Lifesaving Ribbon to Lt. Commander Baylen Anders. I didn't witness the actions of the medical team on the surface, but had an interesting marine report from Major Dal that highlighted Anders' actions, not only in saving a civilian from a dangerous explosive, but assisting young Mason in his injuries - which ended up in an adoption. ::Sal smiled at that - sometimes strange stories had unusual happy endings:: I thank you for all of you actions on the planet, Commander. Congratulations!

Anders: ?

Any: ?

::He rocked on his feet, looking at the dwindling list of names, Now he was focusing on individual efforts of note::

Taybrim: Next is an award that some may think is unusual. We almost always associate lifesaving with medical service, but so many forget that any member of the crew can take actions that save lives. In this case, Starfleet lives. On Tilanna V we had an away team surrounded by hostile criminals that had already suffered casualties; and we needed to get aid to them. In the end it was an incredible bit of Marine heroics that saved the day - and again I'll get to that in a moment. But two officers really made that jump possible - Lt Commander Kaitlyn Falcon who expertly positions the Aegis into the atmosphere to allow the jump; and Lieutenant JG Cadfael Peters who calibrated the transporters to get the teams in and out of Anjunaar. To both of you I award the Silver Lifesaving medal, for saving and protecting the lives of Starfleet officers.

Peters/Falcon: ?

Taybrim: And I would be remiss if I didn't focus on the Marine actions for this mission. Not only did the marines deploy a team that ceased the violence in the capitol, they followed it up with an incredibly quick response of a mobile sickbay. They took nine casualties while saving the life of hundreds of Anjunaar authorities, including Governor Al'Akir himself. I am allowing Major Tatash full freedom in awarding his marine officers and enlisted how he sees fit, and I cannot give the Major and his forces enough praise. But I'm going to try. ::A hint of a smile:: For risking his life in performing a dangerous high altitude, low opening jump that directly saved the lives of a Starfleet away team, Major Tatash is awarded the Gold Lifesaving ribbon. And for his exemplary job in leading his troops to a successful containment, combined with his gallantry in making this jump, he is awarded the Distinguished Service Ribbon.

Tatash: ?

Any: ?

Taybrim: ::Looking to the assembled:: Congratulations all of you. I am so happy to have you all onboard, and I look forward to many more successful missions to come. For the rest of tonight, please eat, drink and be merry. Welcome new friends, thank you old friends and may those who are no longer with us never be forgotten.
