::Dinner was eaten, drinks were had and Sal Taybrim was feeling less frazzled and more comfortable than he had been when he first walked in. It was time to do one of his favorite things. Speeches and awards.

He raised his glass to start, calling attention to the crew and smiling gently at all of them::

Taybrim: Hear, hear! I would like to propose a toast - to all of you, the senior staff of Starbase 118. You have once again saved the day and made the Trinity sector safe. As the Terrans say... Cheers!

::he lifted his glass::

Any: ?

Taybrim: I wanted to start with some introductions. We have some new crew joining us tonight. Stepping up in a time of crisis, everyone please welcome Ensign Thaddeus Peril to the science department of StarBase 118 Ops! ::He paused and offered Peril an earnest gaze.:: Thank you so much for your help in our last mission, Ensign.

::Sal grinned, letting the welcomes crest and then fall. He made a mental note to converse with Ensign Peril when speeches were done - he had not yet had the pleasure of meeting the man.::

Taybrim: And also, please extend a warm welcome to new Academy graduate Ensign Logaan Rostov who joins our security department! ::Another pause, and a smile:: We're excited to see what fresh new ideas you bring with you, ensign!

Rostov: ?

Any: ?

::Sal drew in a long, slow breath and started to take out the box where he kept crew awards.::

Taybrim: Every time we official gather, I like to do awards and recognitions. I will start with some service recognitions. For outstanding service as a department head for the past year, I would like to recognize four of the senior staff who had steadily been a part of this fine StarBase. As Marine Commander, Major Tatash; as Chief Medical Officer, Lt Commander Ezo; as CAG and later chief of helm Lt Commander Antero Flynn and as Chief Diplomatic Officer Lt Commander Trel'lis. In recognition of your service, I pass on both congratulations from Starfleet command and the Department Chief Ribbon.

::He handed each one the award and then spoke in more gentle tones.::

Taybrim: As as a personal note, I would like to thank each and every one of you for being a fantastic friend and support over the past year.

Tatash/Trel'lis/Flynn/Ezo: ?

::Sal drew in a deep breath and looked to the assembled, moving forward::

Taybrim: Also, this crew has earned the War of Shadows citation for the ongoing fight against the Orion Syndicate. ::he gave a small smile:: I'm not sure if I like that name - might have to talk to someone in Starfleet Command about how it actually feels to be on the front lines of this conflict. But know that your contributions do not go unseen and they are deeply appreciated.
