(( Ready Room, USS Montreal ))

:: Mei’konda nodded slightly in return, sparing a glance aside at Rosek before he returned his eyes to Chythar. ::

Mei’konda: I understand.  Evan and I were lucky to serve together on the saame ship for a long time.  Now, with me in command, and he liikely not far behind… I’m not sure when we’ll be able to see each other.  But if you caan make the time for it, Doctor - if, perhaps, you’d like to see if we can arrange for your transport to divert to the Constitution on your way - I’d be happy to help.

Skyfire: I...would be appreciative, sir.

Mei’konda: Now, have you given thought to a replaacement for you?  It seems to me that either Doctor Cattan or Doctor Solok could take over for you - assuming I could conviince Admiral Washington to spaare Doctor Solok for the Montreal.

:: He realized with his departure that there would be a gaping hole in the medical department. In all honesty, either Solok or Cattan had the qualifications to replace him and he could easily write a letter of recommendation for either. Though Cattan he’d served with for longer previously, he was leaning strongly toward recommending Solok for his methodical and logical problem-solving ability. ::

Skyfire: I have given it a bit of thought, yes. Either one could easily step in, and I can write a letter of recommendation for each if necessary.

::She sat silently as the conversation continued around her. What more was there for her to say, really? It was clear he’d made his decision and nothing she said was going to change his mind. Her words would only hurt both of them more. So she sat there, trying not to contemplate how her world would look without her best friend around to give her a kick in the @$$ when she needed it. It was going to take all of her self control not to turn back to the bourbon. She mentally shook her head. It had been inevitable. Chythar couldn’t be her crutch forever. If she was really going to do this, she had to be able to do it on her own. No one else could do it for her.::

:: Mei’konda aimed one more slight nod back toward Skyfire, and leaned back in his seat. ::

Mei’konda: I agree.  Doctor Solok outraanks Doctor Cattan.  If I can get him, let’s maake it happen.  Your letter of recommendation will help, Chythar.

Skyfire: You’ll have the letters on your desk within the hour, sir.

:: Mei’konda nodded once.  He stood up from his chair, and reached out to offer Chythar a fuzzy hand to shake. ::

Mei’konda: Doctor, it’s been an honor and a privilege serviing with you.  I hope that your time at your uncle’s coffee shop helps.

Skyfire: :: Taking the Caitian’s paw. :: It has likewise been an honor and privilege to serve with you as well, sir. I hope it does too.
