Ila Ker Raav: ::nodding:: I fear they may have already passed judgment upon us.

:: The Arc's smile lost some of its certainty. Not because of Ila, not in any way, but because her conclusion seemed so sound. ::

Nen Mur Diiv: I wonder if they didn't do so before they arrived. No doubt they know more than any ::beat:: others. And we have welcomed these aliens, invited them. We bring them into our home, quite literally.

:: Ila could see how this troubled Nen even when no other could see it. She knew the other woman better than any other. She knew how important this was to her… the their world… both personally and politically. ::

Ila Ker Raav: To allow them to get to know us without pretentiousness.

Nen Mur Diiv: We will do so slowly. ::beat:: And you know I believe they may help us in other ways.

:: As Ila glanced sideways at Nen the color of her eyes shifted. It was a curious statement.::

Ila Ker Raav: How so?

Nen Mur Diiv: Even their Ventu had ::beat, slight laugh:: "deviants" on her staff.

:: Nen paused a moment as did Ila. The word cut through the Adovan Chief of Staff and she lowered her voice even further, daring to use the Arc’s given name.::

Ila Ker Raav: Nen, please, that is such a derogatory connotation. It is below us to use it.

Nen Mur Diiv: But I think it's important to do so. We must own the word, not shy from it, much as we must own and move forward from our history. Whether a word or centuries of atrocity, we must be open with who we have been as a people.

Ila Ker Raav: ::inclining her head:: As much as it pains me, you are correct.

King: ::Raising his voice to be heard:: Arc, your home is quite beautiful. ::beat:: May I ask, is this the historical home of your family or one connected to the position in which you are currently entrusted?

:: Both Adovans turned at the question. It was difficult for Ila not to bristle at the youngling’s audacity in addressing the Arc directly. Before Ila could intercede, the Arc waved this aside with a quiet look at Ila and responded. ::

Nen Mur Diiv: Thank you. ::beat:: I wonder, have you considered that it may be both? A home may be occupied by both individuals and positions.

King: I mean to ask who the ownership of the structure resides with?

Ila Ker Raav: ::as softly as she could manage:: Though I fail to see why that matters, all that you see is the personal property of Arc Mur Diiv.

:: The Arc gave Ila half of an eye's smile. No one else, she was nearly certain, had heard Ila--because her words were meant for Nen only, to reassure her, to amuse her, and to remind her that she was not alone. ::

Nen Mur Diiv: It is a ::beat:: difficult question to answer without knowing more about our social structure, I'm afraid.

Jolara: You must forgive us. Many of us are curious by nature and no disrespect is intended.

King: ::Nodding:: It is a most beautiful reflection of the artistry and ingenuity of your people.

Nen Mur Diiv: I take no disrespect. Our ways will be as alien to you as yours are to us. I welcome your questions.

:: This, with another half eye's smile at Ila. ::

Kells: That's very generous of your, Arc. Thank you.

:: There was only a brief lull in the conversation before Ila noticed one of the blue collared women look directly at her.::

T’Lea:  I am curious, what exactly qualifies a person to be labeled as a ‘deviant’, and what lead to the decision to ultimately eradicate these people?

:: Rune remained silent as she looked from T’Lea to the Adovans. The question could have been asked a little more delicately but then again, T’Lea wasn’t known for being delicate.::

:: Blunt and straight to the point. Ila cast a quick glance toward the Arc. It was the one question she dreaded the most. She blinked and her eyes shifted color again. She clasped her hands in front of her and met the woman’s eyes. She would not shy away from this, just as the Arc had said to her earlier.::

Ila Ker Raav: The ability to read another’s thoughts. As for the reason to eradicate them...

Nen Mur Diiv: That is ::beat:: more complicated to explain. Come, let us continue our walk as we explain. Look east as we go--the halla trees are in bloom, and they're especially beautiful this year.

:: Ila drew in a deep breath of the warm air blowing up from the ocean. It was one of the things that calmed her at the moment.::

Ila Ker Raav: ::softly yet loud enough for them all to hear:: I assure you, our intentions are true. Fear and hate are powerful things which blind people from the truth and drives some to do the most terrible things. We can not change what our people did in the past but we can determine what they do today and in the future.
