((Conference Room, USS Gorkon))
::The crew recall hadn't taken long, and the Gorkon had pulled away from the Helase with the minimum of fuss. The casino ship was no match for the heavily armed Sovereign, and the Ferengi knew it. But Mot didn't have to open fire on them to cause them trouble -- as soon as he could get past Nkai's jamming attempts, he would, and then Erik Jansen would have a fresh lead to chase down.
::With all the pressure bearing down on them, it was time to remind everyone of their successes. Individual, and what they had achieved together as a crew. As two crews.
::Her gaze slid over to Captain Brunsig and the members of his crew that were present. She knew he had been making enquiries about a new ship, to no avail. They were stuck with the Gorkon for now, for better or for worse.
::Once the whole senior staff had assembled, she cleared her throat. The conversation died down and all eyes were on her. How she hated it, but it came with the rank and responsibilities.::
Reynolds: Before we start talking about the current crises, I thought a little celebration would do us all some good. Forgive the informality, but after the debacle on Astrofori One I have no stomach for standing on ceremony when it comes to handing out awards.
::She stood.. In front of her, there were six stacks of black lacquered boxes. As she spoke, she picked up the first stack and passed them, one by one, to Blair at her side, who did the legwork in physically passing them to the recipients. Being a captain came with some privileges, after all.::
Reynolds: Commander Vess, Lieutenant Commander Eerie, and Lieutenants Sevo and Stoyer. For your extended service as department chiefs, I'm pleased to be able to thank you with the Department Chief Ribbon.
::She smiled at each of them, leading a round of applause, then picked up the next stack of boxes. Three this time, and these were passed to Blair as before.::
Reynolds: Lieutenant Stoyer, Ensign Lang and Ensign Dana. For your personal sacrifice in taking a wound while on duty, I'm honoured to present you each with a Purple Heart.
::There no smile, but an appreciative nod instead, and another round of applause. The next stack of boxes was three once again, and she spoke as Blair crossed the bottle-green carpet on his way to their officers.::
Reynolds: Commander Vess, Lieutenant Stoyer and Ensign Dana. Thanks to your heroic efforts, there are members of the crew still with us who wouldn't otherwise be. To recognise your actions, I'm delighted to be able to present you each with a Silver Lifesaving Ribbon.
Reynolds: Lieutenant Sevo, your remarkable idea gave us an edge we direly needed against the Dominion. Please accept the Innovation Ribbon as recognition for your quick and clever thinking in the midst of intense pressure.
::Instead Ayiana's box was no ribbon, but a star to pin to her existing one. It was no surprise that a science officer leaned toward innovative thinking, but still no lesser an achievement. Quinn led the applause, and then moved on.
::The penultimate stack was a large one, a box for member of the Gorkon crew present. Instead of making Blair do yet another circuit of the conference room, the boxes were simply passed from person to person in a conveyer fashion, until everyone had one in their possession.::
Reynolds: The whole crew will be awarded the Joint Meritorious Unit Award for our joint operation with the Triumphant. In addition, you have all more than earned the Distinguished Service Ribbon, for not only surviving, but emerging victorious from our combat with a Dominion fleet that outnumbered and outgunned us.
::It was one of Starfleet's highest honours, but she felt it was appropriate. What the crew had done in that battle was nothing short of remarkable.::
Reynolds: And finally.
::The last stack was made of boxes was much smaller than the others. Just big enough to fit a single rank pip inside.::
Reynolds: Ensigns Lang and Ensign Vee, Lieutenant Sevo, it's my great pleasure to promote you to the ranks of Lieutenants Junior Grade and Lieutenant Commander respectively. Congratulations, the three of you.
::She smiled warmly, and brought her hands together for a final round of applause.::
Reynolds: These will, of course, have to be confirmed with Starfleet once we get home, but I have no doubt that they'll agree with my assessment. ::She paused a moment, her expression growing serious.:: But now we have to discuss our present situation.
