Prien: I won’t tell you anything.

Sevo: :: Grinning menacingly. :: Oh, I was sooo hoping you would say that.

Ayiana pulled out her combat knife still attached to her waist, holding it close to the Cardie’s neck-ridges.

Prien: You have to try harder than that, Maquis scum. :: He paused, coughing up more blood. :: You may have broken off from the Federation, but you’re still just as weak as them.

Sevo: Then how come you’re here on the floor with a wrench-sized indentation on your ugly face? Now, why did you stay on the ship?

Sim: I’d tell her, or that knife will be inside you faster than you can say “Maquis”.

Prien: Go ahead; you won’t do it.

She stared at her knife for a moment, giving a show of looking over it longingly.

Sevo: Y’know, you Cardies are excellent torturers, I’ll give you that. I’ve been on the receiving end before. Thing is, while I was being tortured, I did learn a few things as well. Want to see?

This time, the Cardie remained silent. So, he could dish it out but couldn’t take it, huh?

Sevo: Fine, have it your way.

With a deft hand, she reversed the grip of her knife, then slammed the blade down full-force into the man’s shoulder with a sickly squishing sound upon impact. It was less than a centimeter from where she knew a major artery lay. The Cardassian let out a howl of pain followed by a rather nasty Cardassian curse about Ayiana’s maternal lineage.

Sim: Don’t say I didn’t tell you.

In a small way, Ayiana regretted doing it. In another life back in Starfleet, she wouldn’t have considered such an act, but now, after years of being hardened by the Maquis, it was practically second nature.

Sevo: Let’s try again. What were you doing here?

Prien: Comm system! We...we were trying to fix the comm system!

Sim: Now why were you doing that, my friend?

Prien clamped his mouth shut, and refused to talk. ‘Kos gave Red a nod. But before he could tell her anything else, his combadge chirped. Kos turned around to talk to it while Ayiana continued the “interrogation,” half listening to the conversation.

Sylvek: =/\= Staples to Wheels, tell me you're still alive? =/\=

Sim: =/\= I am, and it’s good to hear your voice. =/\=

Sevo: :: *CRUNCH*. :: Comm system. Why?

Sylvek: =/\= You guys ok? Did you get to the others in time? =/\=

Sim: =/\= We did, we’re in engineering. They’re trying to jump start the ship. =/\=

Prien: Yeaaargh!! B--backup! We were trying to call for backup! :: *STAB* ::

Sevo: Backup? Where are they? :: *WHACK* ::

Sylvek: =/\= Very glad to hear it! If you can get comms back up, could you try raising the Skarbek? We've picked up Fingers and Vines and are about to go looking for the others under the facility and we could really do with the extra evacuation space. There's a radiation leak down there, so we might be out of contact for a while. We're leaving the Fourcade survivors with the shuttle, though, if you need them.=/\=

Sim: =/\= Will do. Get everyone you can to the Fourcade, we’re going to get out of here as soon as we can. Wheels out. =/\=

‘Kos turned back around to face Ayiana and Prien.

Sim: How we doing?

Sevo: :: Eyeing Prien who was quietly whimpering and moaning on the floor. :: Got what I need, but you’re not gonna like it.

Sim: Wonderful. ::he nodded at the Cardie:: Do what you want with him, we’re getting Comms back up.

:: Ayiana eyed Prien menacingly, but before she could decide what to do, the lovely off-tune voice of Sparks rang across the engine room. ::

MacFarlane: OI RED!! TAKE ‘IT ELSEWHERE IF YER GONNA MAKE IT SCREAM, WE’RE DEALIN’ WITH DELICATE MACHINERY OVER ‘ERE!!

“It.”

It didn’t pass Ayiana’s notice that Sparks referred to the Cardie as a thing rather than a person. She wasn’t even sure she’d go that far. While she’d never admit it to the Cardassian in front of her, what she had just done was far from pleasant. She never designed herself a torturer or even wanted to. Desperate times, however.

Sim: FINE!

Moran: Response

MacFarlane: JUS’ TAKE IT ELSEWHERE, OKAY? WE’RE TRYIN’ T’ CONCENTRATE!

Sevo: Relax! I’m done here! C’mon, Doc. Help me get rid of this guy.

Prien eyed Ayiana fearfully, at least through the eye that could still see. However, contrary to what he was probably thinking, she had no intention of killing him in cold blood. She’d damned herself enough today. Just have Doc dose him with drugs or something then toss him into the elements and let nature do its thing. Ayiana wasn’t really sure if that was any better than pulling the trigger herself, but it made her conscience feel a little lighter.

Moran: Response

‘Kos shook his head but his comm beeped again before he had a chance to help. Popular man today. Rolling his eyes at Red as if to say “what is it this time?” he flipped it open.

Neathler: =/\= Fingers to Wheels. =/\=

Sim: =/\= Wheels here. =/\=

Neathler: =/\= Any luck getting the power back online on the Fourcade? If they're still in working condition, we'd like to use the Fourcade's transporters to beam out these prisoners. It'll be faster than those from the 'Khan. =/\=

Sim: =/\= Elle’s working on it with Sparks. Shouldn’t be more than a few moments, then we’ll head over to the transporter room =/\=

Neathler: =/\= Roger that. Keep me informed. Fingers out. =/\=

‘Kos flipped his communicator closed and looked at Red, and a crease of worry appeared on his forehead.

Sevo: What is it?

Sim: We need to get to the transporter room, beam our patients across to the triage in the cargo bay. Then get Comms up.

Sevo: Oh, is that all? Can’t we use the ship’s sickbay?

Sim: Sickbay is a no go; it’s a mass of wires and fires in there.

After helping Ayiana sedate the Cardie and stuff him in a closet for the time being, Doc jerked his head in the direction of Sparks and Elle, indicating for Ayiana to follow.  They approached the two engineers, ‘Kos low and slow in his chair, whilst Ayiana walked tall and calm, but she did not feel like it. The fervor of what she just did was still fresh in her mind, the adrenaline pumping through her blood. Ayiana wasn’t quite sure how she’d live after today. Ignorant to Ayiana’s inner thoughts, hopefully, Doc clapped his hands together, apparently taking charge of the situation.

Sim: Alrighty chaps, we need to get to the transporter room, beam across some of our crew and other survivors. Red, Sparks, you’re with me. I might need you both to jimmy rig the ‘porters. Elle, you’re on your own to get the engine started, then if you can, get Comms working. That okay with everyone?

Sevo: Sounds good. Where’s the transporter room?

MacFarlane/Moran: Response

Sim: Great. Let’s roll. Oh, and ::he tossed a Cardie pistol to Elle:: take this, just in case.

Ayiana couldn’t help but shake her head and smile at the, quite likely unintentional, pun of the wheelchair-bound man.

Sim/MacFarlane/Moran: Response

Sevo: Bit of a trip. Hope there are no more Cardies on the ship. Honestly I’m surprised there were so many to begin with.

Sim/MacFarlane/Moran: Response

Sevo: Sparks, is the new warp core going to hold up for the power demand? What about the engines and structural integrity field? We’re going to need them soon.

Sim/MacFarlane/Moran: Response

Sevo: Well, my friend back there told me what they were up to. The Cardies were trying to fix the comm system, or at least get some sort of signal out, and I’m not entirely sure they didn’t succeed. He seemed quite smug, at first. We may need to book it out of here quickly.

Sim/MacFarlane/Moran: Response
