((OOC-This takes place before Cory’s trip to the bar.))

((Starfleet Medical Recovery Ward + Chythar’s Room, LlamaSong Farms))

::Cory was still in the hospital.  He could not be cleared for duty without a psych exam from a counselor, to prove that he was still mentally capable of doing his job.  He had been putting it off for a couple of days now, despite his promises to both Petra and CD.  Cory would make an appointment and then cancel it.  His problem was how could he talk to someone about the past year that wasn’t present for the hell on Gorkon, and even worse than that, his beloved wife who came out to rescue him, was now in prison.::

Stoyer: oO I have to get out of here. Oo

::Cory picked up his PADD to continue to read one of the books Chythar send him.  He sat back in his chair and tried to read.  Cory’s mind started to wonder about everything.  Suddenly Cory’s PADD beeped stating that he had an incoming communication from Chythar.::

::The screen flickered to life, and on it was the somewhat less grizzled and...smiling…? Face of his friend. CD looked a bit better with the worry lines around the eyes gone, and like he perhaps maybe had gotten sleep.::

Skyfire: =/\= How’s things with you, mate?

Stoyer: =/\= Hey Chythar.  Things are as good as can be.  I saw Petra yesterday.  Still no word on what is going to happen with them. =/\=

Skyfire: =/\= Ah was sorta expectin’ that, ta tell ye the truth. So.. Been to see Tobian yet? =/\=

Stoyer: ::lowering his eyes.:: =/\= No, I would make an appointment with a counselor, but I would cancel. =/\=  ::looking back up.:: =/\= I figured the Gorkon’s counselors were busy.=/\=

::CD blinked at his friend, in one of those narrow “If I could reach you, I would hit you” sort of ways. The kind that had a Docslap written all over it.::

Skyfire: =/\= And Rule Seven is…? =/\=

::Cory knew that this was something he should have expected from Chythar.  He his wife would still be mad at him for avoiding this.::

Stoyer: =/\= I know Chythar.  I figured that I would deal with it myself. =/\=

Skyfire: =/\= And ye haven’t because…? Thwap yourself on the back o’ the head, with rule 7 reminder on it. =/\=

::Cory had to smile at that.::

Stoyer: =/\= OK, OK.  Can you get a hold of Dalton?  I will talk to him, if he has time. =/\=

::CD snickered with a knowing grin and nodded once.::

Skyfire: =/\=Stand by. =/\=

::His screen flicked to the standard Federation symbol as CD placed another call, leaving Cory hanging on the line.::

Skyfire: =/\=Commander Skyfire to Counselor Dalton.

::Dalton’s screen came to life moments later.::

Dalton: =/\= Chythar, ol’ pal. What can I do for you? =/\=

Skyfire: =/\= Looping you into a call, mate. One sec. =/\=

::There was a flicker again, and the split screen of Dalton on one side and Skyfire on the other made its way to Stoyer’s screen.::

Skyfire: =/\= Lt. Stoyer, this is Commander Dalton, he’ll be yer counselor for the day. If ye’ll pardon me, Ah have to make another call. Ta, mates! =/\=

::Chythar exited the conversation as gracefully as he’d entered it: saving face, while reminding his friends of their duties. He’d sent Tobian a message beforehand, informing him that Lt. Stoyer had a tendency to avoid doing what was necessary for his health at times. So, when Tobian was suddenly on call, he kept the schedule clear in case this happened.::

Dalton: =/\= Well, I sort of expected that. What can I say? =/\= ::He smiled softly at Cory, hoping to set him at ease.:: =/\= Hello. You can call me Tobian. Any friend of Chythar’s is a friend of mine. What can I do for you? =/\=

Stoyer: =/\= Hello Tobian.  Well I have been cleared physically for duty, but I need to be cleared by a counselor. So, here I am. =/\=

Dalton: ::nodded sagely.:: =/\= Yes, though psych evals are rather hard to conduct over wavelengths like this. If you like, I make house calls. =/\=

Stoyer: =/\= OK, Since I have gone this far,  I am in the Medical Recovery Ward or we can meet anywhere.  I am allowed to leave if needed. =/\=

::Again, Tobian nodded. It was so much easier to conduct these things in person, within the comfort of one’s own office. However temporary it was.::

Dalton: =/\= Excellent. I’m free in thirty minutes, if you’d like to meet then in my office. =/\=

Stoyer: =/\= Alright, see you then. =/\=

::With the comms cut, Cory got himself presentable, then he located Dalton’s office in the hospital and left his room.::

((Time skip - 25 minutes.))

((Counselor Dalton’s Temporary Office, Starfleet Medical))

::Cory walked to the door and hesitantly knocked.  He really did not want to do this, but if he wanted to be cleared for full duty it had to be done.::

Dalton: Come!

::The Betazoid was standing by the replicator, a PADD on his desk nearby. He smiled at Cory as he entered the room.::

::Cory walked in and stood at attention, just as he was taught when reporting to a senior officer.  Old habits and all that.::

Dalton: Have a seat, Cory. Can I get you anything?

Stoyer: No sir, I am good.

::As Cory stood there, he got a good first impression of the counselor.  But of course he had been wrong before.::

::Tobian beckoned him to choose a seat and replicated himself a mug of tea. While he had been on Earth working as a specialist for the academy, he’d learned to like different flavors. Today’s was a black and white darjeeling.::

::Cory watched the counselor get his drink.  He kept thinking that this was a tactic to put him on the defensive.::

::Once Tobian got his drink, he again motioned for Cory to sit, then moved to a chair opposite the lieutenant.::

Dalton: Have a seat.

Stoyer: ::taking a seat.:: Yes, sir.

Dalton: Do I intimidate you, Cory? ::His tone was gentle, a seemingly innocent query. He had to start somewhere, because psych evals were always a bit rough around the edges for the one on the receiving end.::

Stoyer: No sir, I do not know you.  ::Forcing a smile.:: I am not good at talking about things, you can ask my wife about that.

::Dalton nodded sagely and had a sip of his tea before setting it on the table between them.::

Dalton: Chythar told me. Mentioned you’d have a hard time adapting. So, I’ll just sit here and listen for whatever you want to tell me when you’re ready. ::For Tobian, that was how he worked. He listened at the speed the one receiving the eval wanted to reveal.::

Stoyer:  I got to remember to thank Chythar for this.  I guess we should start at the beginning.

::Tobian smiled softly and motioned for him to continue.::

Dalton: That’s usually the best place to start. Whenever you’re ready, Cory.
