((Bridge, Deck 1, USS Gorkon))

:: Ayiana smacked her lips, unusually dry, as consciousness slowly returned to her. A sharp twinge of pain on her back jerked her fully awake, and she realized she was sleeping on something - no, someone. Her arm was draped across the torso of someone in a gold uniform. Oh, Gods, did she fall asleep on duty?! ::

Stoyer:  Ayiana?

Sevo: I...uh...hrm…?

:: The last of the grogginess disappeared in an instant as she realized her predicament - she must have been asleep next to Cory, who had at one point embraced Ayiana with one arm as she returned the gesture. Oh, Gods! He was married! If Petra found out…! She sat up suddenly, trying to untangle herself from Cory, whom she thought may have been equally embarrassed. Looking down, Ayiana noticed she was wearing the familiar uniform of Starfleet. Why was that surprising? ::

Sevo: oO Urgh...at least I have my clothes on this time. Oo

:: Ayiana looked around the bridge, and saw piles of crewmembers starting to rouse, including Lanta and Krugol. Some were wiping spittle from their mouths, others were rubbing eyes as they came around. ::

Lanta: I don’t know what happened here but it looks like we have a bomb.

Stoyer:  A bomb? Where?

Sevo: Wha…?

:: She groggily stood up and finally saw the device sitting in the center of the bridge, in front of the Captain’s chair. It had numerous lights and panels blinking on its surface, and a whine was building inside it - a power source set to overload. ::

Sevo: Ungh. Can you beam it into space?

:: Krugol had moved to the nearby Ops console, and quickly tapped at it. ::

Krugol: A-Attempting to establish a lock, sir.

Lanta: Would putting a comm badge on it help?

::Cory started to unclip his combadge.::

Stoyer: Here use mine.

:: Ayiana took it and slapped it on the casing of the device. The only other option than transporting it was tossing it out the bridge’s emergency airlock. Not impossible, but difficult given the time constraints. ::

Sevo: We’ve got, maybe, thirty seconds before it goes.

:: Krugol tried to transport the device, but failed. The transporter beam glowed around the device for a second before snapping off. ::

Krugol: I’ve established a lock, but i’m having trouble beaming it into space. U-Uh.. i’m going to try narrowing the confinement beam. ::No effect.:: Uhh.

:: Ayiana took a closer look at the device, but refrained from touching it. It may have some security measures to prevent tampering. ::

Sevo: It looks like it’s emitting an interference signal. Boosting the transporter power might break through.

Lanta: Time is running out

Stoyer: You should have enough power to burn through whatever is causing the interference.  :: He said from the engineering station. ::

:: This time, the beam took, and the device dematerialized. The main viewscreen turned on to show the device rematerializing a few kilometers from the ship. ::

Krugol: Wait… what’s the blast radius of the device?

Lanta: No idea but we better get the shields up and some distance from the device.

Stoyer:  I got the shields.

:: Damn. It was going to take a few minutes to power the shields up to full strength. Ayiana sat in the Captain’s chair and pulled up the diagnostics on her armrest controls. ::

Sevo: Shields will only be at around 50% by the time that thing goes off!

::Lanta jumped to the helm and punched the controls for maximum impulse. Ayiana felt a brief surge of acceleration pushing her into the chair before the inertial dampeners fully compensated for the impulse jump. ::

Lanta: Warp offline heading away from the device at full impulse.

Stoyer:  Yeah, I see that.  I will look into it later.  Giving you as much power to the engines as I can.

Krugol: response

Lanta: Hopefully it's a low yield meant for more body damage than destruction, after all if it was mass destruction surely placing it in engineering next to the warp core would have been more efficient.

Sevo: Don’t be so sure. A few grams of antimatter set loose would be enough to blow up the saucer section.

Stoyer:  Still it may blow a big hole in the hull.  Lanta, turn the stern to it.

:: Ayiana tapped a big, red button on her armrest to open the shipwide intercom. ::

Sevo: All hands, brace for impact!

:: The device exploded on the screen, and a second later, the shockwave hit the ship. They were lucky, as it wasn’t huge; the partially-powered shields absorb much of the energy, and the rest only caused the ship to shudder, knocking over people who weren’t holding on to something. A few panels and lights sparked and darkened, a couple people who couldn’t brace in time were knocked to the floor, but all-in-all, it wasn’t too bad. ::

Stoyer:  Is everyone alright?

Sevo: Status Report! How’s the ship?

Lanta/Krugol: response

:: She heard Cory check in with Petra instead of giving off his own report. Ayiana couldn’t blame him for that. Her mind drifted to how they found each other waking up. She felt...embarrassed? Ashamed? A couple of fleeting images of the pair flashed through her mind - they looked more scruffy-looking than they were now, and were sitting at a table together. But the image faded as quick as it came. It was something she could ponder later. Everyone else had given a status report. Once Cory finished his personal communication, Ayiana queried him again. ::

Sevo: Cory, Engineering status?

Stoyer: Response

Lanta/Krugol: Response

:: Ayiana pressed the comm button on her armrest. ::

Sevo: =/\= Sevo to Admiral Reynolds. =/\=

Reynolds: =/\= Response =/\=

:: Somehow, it felt odd to hear the Admiral’s voice. Like she wasn’t a friend. The feeling passed as quickly as the image of her and Cory did. ::

Sevo: =/\= Glad to hear from you, sir. I’m up on the bridge where we were left with a nice present; but we managed to deal with it. You probably felt it. =/\=

Reynolds: =/\= Response =/\=

Sevo: =/\= Everyone looks to be alright. A few bumps and bruises, and medical reports are still coming in from around the ship. Some systems are offline, such as warp drive. =/\=

Reynolds: =/\= Response =/\=
