Lt Cmdr Nugra - A Small Purchase? Part 2/2 (NT)

:: Nugra looked confused. All he wanted to do was buy the land on the outskirts of Grai and get it fixed up so when he retired from starfleet some day, he had a place to go to. Now Laudean royalty had somehow come in to play. ::

Nugra: You...you want me to take back a title that hasn't' been used in generations? 

Mobesh: Yes, plus with the wealth that you would be bringing to the Manar Province, it would be a boon to our economy. I do not pretend that our request is completely altruistic. With someone holding the title again, the lands could be made fertile and the outlying citizens can have jobs. 

Nugra: Sir, Article 22b Section 4 of the Star Fleet Financial Manual bars me from using those funds for my own personal use until I retire or resign my commission. It is what star fleet asked me to sign and I gladly did it. I might be rich on paper, but I can't and won't touch a single credit as I promised. For all tense a purposes, I get paid a Lieutenant Commander's pay. 

:: Mobesh nodded and handed him a PADD. It was triangular, but the base software was the same as that used by the Federation. Nugra scrolled through it. ::

Mobesh: You can transfer that money to your estate and pull a percentage of it like an investment that does not exceeded 50% of your military base pay. 

:: Nugra looked at him and shook his head. ::

Nugra: I do not feel like you are being honest with me, Mr. Mobesh. Why do you want this so bad? 

Mobesh: I don't mean to sound like we are deceiving, but we are in a financial hardship. The invasion of those creatures destroyed our infrastructure and it was barely working thanks to the Klingons. I will not turn a way from a possible investment that would help my people get on their feet. 

:: The Gorn nodded and switched the PADD off. ::

Nugra: Something of this magnitude needs to be cleared through Star Fleet. As Fleet Captain Turner is sector commander, she will need to approve it. 

Mobesh: We also need to the parliament to authorize it, but that isn't going to be a problem. Traditionally, all titles that belong to a province are theirs to do with as they choose. 

:: With the conversation over, Nugra silently returned to the hover car and back to his shuttle. There was a lot more going on and he had to decide if it was worth it or to walk away. ::
