Mei'konda & Skyfire - Recruitment Drive Pt. II

(( Time jump - approximately one week later, USS Astraeus Main Shuttlebay ))

:: As days had passed on the Astraeus and Ferasa Prime, the crew of the newly refitted starship had found themselves with less shore leave time than they’d expected.  The Astraeus was complex, and certifying on her systems wasn’t a simple or quick process - to say nothing of the process of operations and engineering fine-tuning her systems as much as they were able during the short impulse and warp-powered trips through and outside the system they’d take before returning to spacedock to make use of those facilities to make any adjustments that were needed. ::

:: Mei’konda found it satisfying.  It was like moving into a new home, and setting it up exactly as he liked.  Of course, some things couldn’t be anticipated.  He had no doubt they’d run into other problems as they moved deeper out into space that they would just have to deal with then.  But for now - it was mostly about the crew.  Including the civilians they were taking on board - and those who were something in between. ::

:: Mei’konda stood with his hands folded behind his back as the long range shuttle settled into place on the hangar deck, and he smiled when he spotted Chythar’s small beagle leading the way out of the shuttle.

Devlin: Raff raff! :: The beagle bounded over and sniffed at Mei, nuzzling against his leg in greeting. ::

Skyfire: Skyfire and Devlin reportin’ for duty, sir. Permission to come aboard?

:: Crouching to ruffle the small dog between the ears, the Caitian then turned his palm upward in order to let Devlin sniff at him.  Then, he rose to his feet, and offered his other hand to the human. ::

Mei’konda: Granted.  It’s a pleasure to see you again, Chythar. :: He looked around the cavernous hangar bay. :: What do you think?

Skyfire: She’s beautiful. Studied the specs a bit more on the way over. :: He took the offered paw and gave a firm shake. :: Ah’m afraid you’re stuck with us for the long haul, sir. Chris wants all the weird coffee from the Eagle Nebula.

:: Mei’konda flashed a slight smile back at the brown-haired human. ::

Mei’konda: And I didn’t even haave to take you on the grand tour myself.  Your quaarters are on deck fourteen, Doctor.  I left a present there for you.

Skyfire: Thank you, sir. :: He paused for a moment. :: My first shift as comfort-master is at what time?

:: It was a good question.  Mei’konda considered. ::

Mei’konda: You’re still on leave.  You’re going to be running the plaace.  So really - scheduling, staffing?  It’s all up to you.  You haave plenty of experience maanaging much more difficult departments, after all.

Skyfire: True.

:: Mei’konda offered the human a fuzzy hand. ::

Mei’konda: Welcome back to the fleet, Doctor.

Skyfire: Thank you, sir.
